First I must say that I am sad to see this series end, but I have enjoyed it every step of the way. I have been enamored with Patch since we were first introduced to this charismatic and mysterious character in Hush, Hush. I have also loved Becca Fitzpatrick's ability to surprise me. Most books I read I can predict the ending, but I've never been able to predict hers which I admire greatly. In Fitzpatrick's last installment of her series, she doesn't disappoint. I was glued to my seat the whole time, and I read the book in only a day. I felt that Nora's character developed a lot throughout the book and by the end I felt that she was a much stronger person than she was in the first novel. Patch continued to steal my heart with his witty/sexual comments, his strength, and most of all his absolute love and dedication to Nora. Scott was in this novel as well, but I would have liked to see him more in the middle of the novel. However, he is still there and is especially important at the end, so don't worry fans of Scott! We also found out a secret about Vee that I never saw coming, so again bravo to you Becca Fitzpatrick you shocked me once again. The plot line of the story was well-paced and kept me interested the whole time. The ending of story was epic (once again I couldn't predict what was going to happen which made it so much better) and I even started tearing up since I have become so attached to these characters. However, it had a very satisfying ending and left me as a reader feeling happy for the characters. If you have any doubts about reading the last book of this series I must insist that you read it! It was absolutely fantastic ( )

After swearing an oath to Hank Green, Nora is now the leader of the Nephilim army and will have to figure out how to free all Nephilim from being used as a vassal during Cheshvan.

Trust. Betrayal. Fear.

I felt as though this book had too many plot twists. Usually, the author writes details throughout the entirety of the book that leads up to one BIG plot twist, but with this book, there was a plot twist every few chapters. I would be lying if I said I wasn't shocked at these plot twists, but I felt as though they were too often.

I suppose the last plot twist was the most anticipated one. A lot of readers are here for Patch, so when we watch the scenes unfold and find out he was sent to hell forever, I'm sure that was the last thing we wanted and/or expected.

Now, I've never experienced love before so I have no idea how it feels, but Nora was so dramatic when it came to Patch that I had to stop and sit for a minute every time she said she couldn't live without him. Queen, you met less than a year ago...

But I know if I was put in this position with Sirius Black, I would feel the same way.

I found the training sessions with Dante to be quite boring and useless to the story, but as I think about it, it was to convince the readers that he could be trusted. When I got to the cemetery scene, I just knew it was going to be Dante. Someone we all trusted.

When we got to the war scene, I was honestly very stressed. We had just found out Vee was also Nephil. Which, in my opinion, was very unnecessary. But I still didn't want anything to happen to her. But then Scott made a beautiful sacrifice for Nora. WE LOVE YOU SCOTT!!

And then we find out Patch is alive!!! YIPPEE!!

Detective Basil told Nora to cut her arm and I was like?? But then Nora and Patch made an oath to each other and mix their blood and guess what... PATCH CAN FEEL! Now they can kiss and hug and do all the other things teens do and it won't be one-sided.

In the Epilogue, we see Vee getting married and being happy. But what killed me was:
"Your mom told me Marcie died a couple months ago."
"She lived longer than anyone expected."

HELP?!?!?! THAT MADE ME LAUGH...

Patch and Nora got a happy ending ( )

Come mai in certi libri si arriva sempre al punto in cui lui diventa un pappamolla e lei cerca disperatamente di essere all'altezza della situazione (senza peraltro riuscirci)? Cioè, non potete farmi leggere di un Patch pappamolla... il bel tenebroso, pieno di mistero, sex-appeal da vendere, cattivo e tormentato al punto giusto... e no!!!
Pensavo che la Fitzpatrick avesse respinto questa tentazione e invece... supero la metà libro e mi ritrovo con un Patch che non è più Patch e una Nora che perde peggio di un rubinetto che non vede l'idraulico da secoli... con gli stessi problemi di autostima di due libri fa... oh, ma che pizza!!!
E poi ci sono alcuni colpi di scena che hanno tutta l'aria di essere una raffazzonata dell'ultima ora... e l'epilogo... sull'epilogo mi sono cadute le braccia...
Insomma mi aspettavo un Patch inarrestabile e una Nora più c*****a. Niente da fare. E non dirò niente sugli altri personaggi per non fare mega spoiler... ( )

The finale, and it's titled... Finale. We're off to a great start! We've got a nephilim army being described to us, for the first time in this book series might I add. And there's some black cloaked ones that are forming a mysterious council, I'm sure that can't be anything weird.

Nora has signed a blood oath to lead this army and the day that she stops leading this army, she will die. Very weird. I feel like I'm making up brand new sentences every time I talk about this series. None of these senses need to exist, and none of them makes sense.

The entirety of these four books have happened over the course of a year. With the first two books taking up two months time, book three taking up a greater length of time, and this book finally ending on a year. One year has passed and all of these books have occurred within that year. There have been multiple wars, murders, lost, and death within a year. But we're just fine and continuing on into this series. It hasn't even been that long.

The possession and body stealing part of the first book makes a return for no reason other than it's a Halloween release book and we need something ookie spooky so I guess this will do. And this one we get the rules bent a little bit more and now basically anyone can possess anyone, for some reason. And of course this is going to lead to some bad things because possession can never just be casual or consensual.

It's not a new thing, it was one of the very first established things in the book series but it really doesn't feel like it belongs here anymore. Especially since it's basically bullying someone into giving their body over for possession and then ignoring their consent and playing with their body. Pretty gross stuff. But it lets them feel pleasure and experience fun so why not be terrifying and bully nephilim and fallen angels for kicks.

And even the characters in the book don't know how it works despite being immortal Angel beings who have been around forever. So that's a thing.

Two physical bodies sloughing together, whee!

At some point she drinks a Gatorade tainted with devil craft. Nora drinks the Kool-Aid, and the Kool-Aid is devil craft. It's actually Gatorade as far as I remember, but it's still basically the drink the Kool-Aid joke. I'm so unamused with Satan infused Kool-Aid.

Devil craft is a... New new thing introduced in this book. Our main villain carries around 20 bottles with him at any time because it can be weaponized. Cool? Why? That's a very weirdly specific number to carry around for one thing.

Oh, and the devil craft is very addictive so it's a drug, and a Kool-Aid joke. Lemon Sunflower Dandelion LSD joke when? It also turns their blood neon blue and florescent. Because black and red would be too on the nose.

It's book four and we get our first angel...

His name is Pepper.

He's described as ugly and sad. Man. What a build up. Such good character reveal.

There's like a million subplots in this book that go nowhere, and are instantly resolved or thrown around so that the book can meet some kind of page quota. I hate it. I hate the entire experience of this book.

Nora randomly pulls out a magic drug addiction cure from nowhere. And fixes everything that's been wrong in this book. It's been there the whole time, but she was just waiting until it was the best time to reveal this drug addiction cure. *Siiiighs*

I've left out a character, the best character in this whole series was Marcie, a character who was born with a serious medical/health problem and was shamed for her weight and treated terribly even when she redeemed herself. In this book she dies and the funeral procession only has five people attend besides her mother, they all shrug and make non-committal noises and everybody moves on. She is forgotten, not remembered by anyone deliberately, and not cared about. Even though in this book she spends it trying to form a bond with her mother and her sibling. It is a terrible mistreatment, because it was already said that she would be born sickly and frail and even though she was struggling with this the whole time she was kind of an eating disorder joke. I really hated that, I hated that she got this great character development only to be killed off. Nora did not deserve such a great sister.

Screw character development, amirite? Ugh.

Marcie had severe flaws but was trying to improve and grow which is more than anyone else in this book.

Also wrist spotting blood pact happened. Patch and Nora, with Patch using a ring to cut himself and Nora all slitting her wrist up and down repeatedly. Blood pact made! I'm disgusted but not surprised.

"Do you think there's an afterlife?"

I rarely get this mad in a review. I'm able to handle a lot of really stupid things. Hush, Hush is a breakthrough of stupid.

I don't like anything about this book and nothing in this series is original or logical. It's been an inconsistent heap.

Finale...

Finale is all about the war of Nephelim against fallen angels the war is to break the fealty that the Nephelim are forced to swear for one month of the year, entitling fallen angels to possess their hosts body and pretty much rape pillage and plunder for a whole month (oh goody.)

After Hank is dealt with Nora becomes the leader by oath and if she refuses....she dies, simple.
So with the help of Dante and Scott she learns the ropes and eventually agrees that the war is justifiable. However there is a Judas in the ranks and Nora finds out a little to late and is then forced into a life and death combat to gain her rightful place as the leader of Nephelim.


Overall Finale was good to read, it was quick paced and to the point, there is more character development in this book and a couple of them actually grew on me, whilst others really pissed me off. There were a few twists and surprises in this book, unfortunately I did guess early on to them all, except the one about Basso, though I did feel he had something to do with the story and I was wondering what kept him popping up, his little -very minor- role in the story was a really nice job to give him. I do however wonder what happened to his dog when he left, I thought Nora would have claimed it but it got dropped.
Likewise with Nora's love rival Dabria she sort of up and vanished too, with no mention of the possibility her feather had been burned.
Scott had been oe of my favorites from the start, he was the most real character in the story, in particular in the guy way of doing thing and what he says, and out of all the characters that were killed including Patch, his was the only one that I felt anything other than 'oh well' about.

Again I would like to include my exceptional hatred for Nora's mother, her over protectiveness of her daughter (whom for the majority she refuses to listen to and give off the impression she hates) is just ridiculous, at sixteen/seventeen she should get off her high horse and accept her daughter will eventually be sexually active.


I have learnt that Fitzpatrick has no set writing, authors of a series you learn that they are either good, bad or okay at what they do, with each of these four book I have had a different opinion for each.

I have borrowed each book from the library, and I'm still wondering whether or not to buy them because they are the sort of books you don't know if you want to pick up again or not.

Lastly; A fairly boring closure to a pretty good series, but boring is just what the characters need!
