Interesting take on Buddy Baker aka Animal Man, but not one that resonated with me for no apparent reason I can nail down. I wanted to like this more, but it just never drew me in. ( )

Buddy Baker is an on and off superhero but is trying to be an actor now. Maxine (his daughter) is an avatar of The Red and is showing extraordinary powers that far surpasses Animal Man.

This was such a great read. Lemire’s characterization is second to none when it comes bringing characters to life and making each character relatable and bringing to life characters that are grotesque and alien. It is established immediately on who each character is and their dynamics within the family and how much they love each other...in just quite astonished how Lemire can juggle so much characterization in such a short amount time where I read 7 books of GL and Hal is one boring ass character. The art is so simple and ugly that fits perfectly for this book. The pace of this book is perfect where it manages to build suspense but knows to take its time, and
