This is a great collection to keep in your classroom. It organizes the poetry within different themes (ex: seasons, animals,food, happiness, sorrow) and includes beloved poets such as Robert Frost, Ezra Pound, Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes, and John Keats (just to name a few!). There is plenty of variety that could suit students from preschool all the way up to middle school (and perhaps even beyond). ( )

I didn't find this book of poetry particularily enticing. I like that it is a compelation so students can get exposure to a lot of different authors styles of writing. I thought the poem the days have names was very clever, I had never thaught about the fact that we name the days and the months but not the weeks. I really enjoyed the Langston Hughes Poem named "Poem", I thought it was a really great explination of how a poem doesnt have to be as complex as many people like to make them up to be, a poem can just be a poem.
