When Kelly Brandt is found dead in a motel room, it is assumed to be suicide. Ray Crusafi is hired by Kelly's daughter Macy because she doesn't believe her mom would kill herself.
Ray speaks with many shady people during his investigation. He feels that everyone could be suspect in Kelly's death.
During the story, we find out that Ray has a secret past. He is not who he pretends to be.

A Good story, it held my interest. And has me wanting to read to next story, just to find out Ray's secrets. ( )

A detective who has a lot of secrets that he keeps from everyone. His present case deals with an apparent suicide that the family believes was not a suicide. During his investigation he turns up an internet porn ring that leads him to the big city and the Mafia. The solution to the case is a surprise. The outcome is that he is going to open up more to those that he loves.

A very interesting and fast read. I look forward to more of Ray Crusafi mysteries. ( )

Suicide? Macy doesn't think her mother (an escort) would commit suicide. So, she hires Ray to find out what really happened.

I did enjoy reading. It was a fast read and interesting. I do hope the author reveals more of Ray in future books. ( )

A decent fast paced, sometimes violent, private detective book. I enjoyed Ray even though he is a violent (at times) person with an unknown past.

There are smatterings of humor that help the story. There are some grammatical and misspellings that do not help. Overall this is a good read for mystery fans. The story is interesting and I will probably read more in the series. ( )

Liked the book very much. It is a quick read and holds your interest. There are a few grammatical/spelling errors, and they grated on my nerves because that is how I am! The book also left a lot of questions unanswered, but I guess the author was saving those for the rest of the series. I can understand that. But it would have been better if the book had at least covered who attempted to get Ray killed - it definitely was not Mike. Or if Ray had at least started wondering about that. It was surprising that Ray did not give that matter any more thought - not even when he saw the "ghosts" from his past show up on his street. Given how paranoid he was, it would be the most logical thing for him to worry about. Nevertheless, I would definitely like to read the next Ray Crusafi mystery. ( )
