Fiction. Literature. Romance. Historical Fiction. HTML:From a house on the edge of her family's dusty  farmland airstrip near Chicago, the child Cassie  O'Malley would sneak into the night to look at the  planes sitting shimmering in the moonlight. Her  World War I veteran father, Pat, wanted his son to  be a pilot, not his reckless, red-haired  daughter. But it was Cassie who had the gift. Ever since  she could remember, Cassie felt the pull of  getting in a cockpit and taking to the skies.  Observing all the while was her father's junior partner,  Nick "Stick " Galvin, a fellow war ace  and airborne daredevil. Nick would become her  confidant and best friend, willing to break all the  rules to teach her to fly, knowing that the  greatest gift he could give her was the freedom of  flying.

When California entrepreneur Desmon Williams  sees Cassie in a local airshow, he invites her to  California where she breaks new ground as a test  pilot. Soon Cassie's record-breaking flights make  her a media darling. Drawn by Desmond's plans for  her to break Amelia Earhardt's records, but  determined to avoid her mistakes, Cassie trains for  the remarkable journey around the world. From  public appearances to press conferences, easily used  by both her husband and the press, Cassie realizes  that there is more to life than making headlines.  Risking her life, pushing herself to her limits,  she decides to chart her own course and pursue  her own destiny, whatever it costs her.

Wings is set in a time of constant change,  when the world was on the brink of war and the  skies were filled with adventurers, a time when  courage and daring forever changed modern-day  aviation.

Återigen har jag försökt att sätta ett betyg baserat på en recension som jag skrev för 4 år sedan.

A brilliant sequel to the trilogy. Chock full of humour, which is really just stating the obvious about humans. I particularly love their reaction to finding Nomes, and how they chase the space ship. Even more laughable that Masklin thinks humans are lonely.

It would have been great to have had more of these, about how they gather the Nomes from all areas of the Earth. But alas, without Terry Pratchett here anymore, there's not a chance.

A really satisfying read.

Wings by Danielle Steel is about a young girl named Cassie who discovers her love of flying from her WWI Veteran father and his airport. Set in the 1930’s, Cassie is faced with an unsupportive father who doesn’t think women can be pilots. Nick, her father’s friend and employee at the airport, becomes her mentor and close friend and maybe something a little more?

Anyone who reads Danielle Steel knows that you have to go into her novels knowing that there will be times when her writing will be redundant. This was no exception, there were times when I got extremely frustrated with how it was written and wanted to rewrite the whole thing myself. However, her stories are wonderful. I had to take a deep breath and remember the storyline. Once I was able to ignore how much that stuff bothered me, it was an incredible book. If you are the kind of person who cannot read anything that is not perfectly written, then this is not a book for you. On the other hand, if you can move past it you will not be sorry. This book is not for everyone but for those of us able to forget the little annoyances, it is worth it.

Wings by Danielle Steel
This is the story of Cassie who's got a lot of other sisters and her father really wanted a boy so he could take over his flying business.
With the help of Nick, the other pilot when she gets older she takes the plane up, during a storm to prove she can do it. After she lands her father tells her he will teach her to fly, Nick helps also.
Her mother finally has a boy, Christopher and his father trains him to take over the business and to fly. He has NO interest in it and doesn't like it.
After high school she didn't want to marry and have babies so she told them she wanted to go to college-an engineering degree. Bobby has proposed and she turns him down for now.
She is in the air show and others are there that want them for their own business-a sky girl-you not only fly planes but go out on dates, publicity etc. She has many choices to select from...
She's offered a world tour and then her brother dies in a plane crash and she remains home for several weeks. She asked Billie to be her co pilot for the trip but it won't be for another year.
Nick makes it back home also finally. So many tragedies that draw her home again against her husbands wishes-it's all about the tour for him. Love all the travel involved.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device). ( )

Okay, so here's my take. Danielle Steel is a very repetitive writer. She tends to state the same thought more than once within a given page. Fore example: He was angry...Then goes on to tell why... And then ends with he was mad... However Danielle Steel has a gift for stories. Every book she writes is its own original, which is a skill most authors do not have. I love her pallet cleansing stories and truly enjoyed this one. ( )
