I believe that not only with the mythology, but the combined history, will captive An audience of middle schoolers. Though it took longer than 6 months for me to finish this series, I found meself: sad, laughing, cheering and getting angry with the antagonist. All the things we as teachers would hope our students might do while reading a book. 6 out if 5 ⭐️s. ( I was never good at Math ) This series had a very interesting premise and world built around it. I really loved how it integrated lots of different mythologies and legends all into one story over a long time period. The structure of the world was the strongest point for me and kept me reading the series. A lot of the rest of the book left quite a bit to be desired for me. I feel like this whole series could have used a stronger continuity editor. Someone to keep track of what people said at one point and make sure that they matched up with what they said later in the book or later in the series. There was a LOT of things that were not kept the same throughout the whole arc of the story. There were also a lot of Chekhov's guns that never went off. Details were thrown out that were never revisited. Things that were said were not followed up on, or ever mentioned again. It was really disappointing, and made it hard to follow sometimes when you're waiting for this detail to come up again or this potential problem to be solved or integrated that never was. Summary: This was a really fun world and if you like mythology this could be enjoyable. But if you're a stickler for continuity or really hate plot holes or anything along those lines this might be one to skip. What a lackluster ending to a middling series. In this final book, it’s basically all action. Everything has been set up, and it’s a race to the finish to see what Sophie and Josh need to face and what choices they made about the “end of the world.” I liked that everyone they met had their own part to play in the final battle, but in the end, it was up to the twins to make the final call as to what would eventually happen. One of my favorite parts is that we get to learn a whole lot more about John Dee and Virginia Dare. Virginia is hands-down my all-time favorite character from this series. I would read a whole separate set of 6 books just featuring her story. She’s wonderful. I also liked that we got to see a little bit more of John Dee. He’s not totally redeemed or anything, but I felt we were able to see more complexity in his choices in the end, which I appreciated. For being such a prominent secondary character, I was happy he got more page-time. This journey has finally come to an end! Short and sweet: I really liked this series and highly recommend it if you’re a fan of YA fantasy. It’s a little silly at times and there were some predictable twists, but it was a fun ride and the mythology was spot on. Also posted on Purple People Readers. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

This book was the exciting conclusion to the 6 book series of The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. If I had to choose one word to describe this series, it would be Brilliant! From the beginning, I was having a difficult time putting the book down. The world that Michael Scott describes just pulls you in and you don't want to leave. The characters that you thought you knew turn out to be completely different and surprised me at a couple different turns. I'm sad that this series has come to an end, but the ending was well thought out and was an excellent ending for this series. I will definitely be looking for more. Loos to read by Michael Scott and I shall keep my eyes open for any Elders or Immortals that may cross my path. (
