A distinctive different about this book from other book is that the story started from the aftermath of Megan's cancer ops which have added more emotional intensity in the already intensed story plot. The intensity was at its highest height when Clay saw Megan at his aunty's house and it was also at that moment when Clay realised that he loved Megan. Reading this book saddened me albeit the happy ending in the end because loves between two person was denied due to the circumstances that is beyond their control and when both thought that by denying the truth would help to eliminate the hurt of the other person. Love does that to everyone and it took courage to hold onto each other to overcome the circumstannce and walk toward the happily ever after ending just like what the message of this book is carrying. Megan Briggs was away from the ranch for a year getting treatments for breast cancer. Now she is home and wants everybody to treat her normal but she has changed and people around her are aware of changes in what they feel for her. Clay is best friends with Megan's brother and has the ranch next to theirs family ranch. Clay spoke harsh words to Megan about her running away last year. He came over to tell her sorry and see how she was doing.Clay has a hard time when dealing with cancer. He saw his dad die of lung cancer and his mom left them both when he got sick. His Aunt Stacy came and raised him. Megan wants to help bring money to the ranch her idea is to build a indoor riding arena teach barrel racing and riding lessons. buy some more horses plus board up to 14 horses. The bank turned her down but Clay was willing to give or loan her the money. Also Clay's Aunt Stacy is getting married she just got back with old boyfriend from high school. Clay asks Megan to be his date so all the women wont ask him to dance and he can have her back so people won't worry about her. But Clay realizes that that Megan is all grown up. She has had a crush on him for years and he had no idea. It deals a lot with the breast cancer and how their are emotional and physcal parts even after the treatment is done. I thought it dealt with the issues in a good way. That it is okay to be scared but to let people in to help too. I liked the How a cowboy stole her heart and would read more of Donna's book in the future. I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review. näyttää 3/3 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

Meg and Clay are just two big balls of issues. Meg is dealing with the scars from her fight with cancer - both the physical and emotional ones. She's determined to live her life to the fullest, and yet at the same time she's scared. Scared that next time she might not make it. She's also scared that Clay won't be the man she needs him to be. She needs someone she can rely on. Someone she can count on to be there in case the worst happens and her cancer comes back.
Clay has lost enough people in his life. He doesn't want to take the chance that he'll end up having his heart broken. Instead, he pushes Meg away, thinking they'll both be better off. But as time goes on he comes to realize he wants Meg in his life - even if that means risking his a broken heart. The problem will be convincing Meg he's the man for her.
Although there were some very touching scenes in this book and many emotional pitfalls, I had frustrations with both Meg and Clay. They kept saying harsh things to each other and pulling back at the slightest hint of deeper feelings. While I understood this in the beginning, as the novel progressed I found myself losing patience with them.
