(  ) lupagreenwolf | Jul 13, 2008 |  Barely mystical or magickal at all, except for the chapter about gargoyles. Basically a completely normal encyclopedia of mythical creatures. Organized nicely. Has original illustrations. Has a few mistakes of the sort that really piss me off: classifying the Ba as a mythical bird-like creature (the Ba is not a mythical creature, the Egyptians believed it to be part of a human soul, and as such, is no more a mythical animal than a kundalini snake) and saying that a certain creature has five legs (it's supposed to have four: the old relief carvings are made to show it with four legs when viewed from either side or from the front, but if you view it from a corner, yes, it appears to have five legs.
