Objetos Cortantes (vuoden 2015 painos)

First, I picked up this book to read before watching the mini-series. As you can see I gave it 1 star and I have no intention of watching the series now. This was the darkest, most disturbing book I've ever read. In fact, there was one scene in it that still haunts me and upon reading it I put the book down for 4 days before deciding to finish it.

I loved Gone Girl! That was a deliciously, evil novel that kept you on the edge of your seat at every turn. Sharp Objects is just disturbing - very dark - very disturbing - would NOT recommend it. ( )

More chic lot then her other books: more sex, more Mean Girls-small town lady gossip, more mother-daughter dysfunction. More murder mystery (somewhat typical of amateur detective-style) than psycho thriller. The psycho-thriller component comes in the twistedness of the murders themselves, more than any thrilling the reader. More or less predictable -- two prime suspects and some mis-direction, but my initial instincts at the beginning were right. It's a pop-murder-mystery-thriller for the masses and not as good as Flynn's other books. ( )

A book that I had to read during the day, even though it wasn't so gruesome I couldn't read before I went to sleep. I don't understand, one more time, why it took so much time to read this book. I heard so much about Gillian Flynn and her writing.
It contains elements like self-harm, sexual content alcohol, drugs, that were relevant to the story, and were woven very well to the plot. The story has a nice aspect of the psychological thriller genre.
You are always looking to find out who the murder was and what is the backstory of Andora, and why her three daughters are the way they are and were.
Also, the small town ambiance matches very well with the storyline of the novel. I am looking forward to watching the HBO series, and I will continue reading Gillian Flynn's other two books. I have Gone Girl, but I want to read first Dark Places, as I want to read her books chronologically. The truth I liked my Greek pocket edition very much, and even though I love to read in English, in the language they have been written, I like more the pocket edition by the Greek publisher Metaihmio (Μεταιχμιο).
This book has a lot of trigger warnings. ( )

Dark, moody, captures small-town Missouri living.

The ending was a bit lackluster for me. ( )
