This is a "sort-of wordless" book; some pages continue the narrative without words, while others contain dialogue between the protagonist and a magical mud creature that speaks in mud splashes. Fairytale themes. Hard to use as a collaborative read like many wordless books, because the Mudkin's responses need to be imagined as fitting into the dialogue a certain way. ( ) Mudkin is a mostly wordless picture book about a girl who plays outside after the rain on a muddy day. When the girl goes outside to play, she meets a mud creature called "Mudkin", and the two of them go on many adventures. This book is great method to help children use their creativity to add their own details. The illustrations are very vibrant and the use of watercolors help show a lot of movement. This book has sparse text, matched with verbose illustrations. The sensory feeling of rain and mud is conveyed exquisitely through the pages with splotches and drips here and there. Movement is captured on every page with broad bold artwork, which depicts the friendship between the girl and Mudkin. He shows her to her castle, and her waiting kingdom, where she addresses the masses of Mudkin's who love her. It is a fun story that readers would love and young children will easily relate to the character's as well as the muddy play. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
