I won this book in a GR First-reads giveaway, and now I'm wishing I hadn't, because now I have to wait for the next book to come out. I like it much better when I discover a series after it's finished or at least after several books have been published. *sigh*

But aside from my personal impatience, I loved this book. I'm not sure if I've read anything else by Adair, but I'll be checking out her other books. I read a lot and the majority of that is romance, so it's refreshing to see someone put a different spin on things. A one-night stand turns into a fight for life when Zak and Acadia are kidnapped along with Zak's brother. I love that the twists and turns were unpredictable, and I certainly don't want to give anything away.

I have one issue with the ending, but I'm really hoping that will somehow be resolved later in the series. (I'm not giving away any secrets. You'll know when you read it.) ( )

I really enjoyed this book. It was certainly the best book I've read by Cherry Adair. It was fast paced and didn't have any slow spots. Started right off with the kidnapping as the the hero and heroine woke up after what was to have been a one night stand. So they weren't all into each other at the first. I loved how he, Zac, was not real nice to her at first as that seems like a realistic response to being kidnapped with a woman he picked up in a bar. He was staying true to his character. His growth and change was gradual and realistic. Very well done. The heroine, Acadia, was very well written as well. She was sweetly funny and was not just there to be saved. She was a major component in their survival. The ending was a little improbable but hey it's fiction and it wasn't totally out there. The dialog was good. The sex scenes were well done, hot without being to overwhelming or oddly placed, which can be a problem in running from bad guys type of books.

The paranormal element was a little odd. It was a very different sort of skill he ended up with. We're not talking vampires and fae sort of paranormal but a psychic sort of thing. It was interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing how it's going to play out in further books.

Huge spoiler here. I recommend you don't read it until you've read the book. His brother Gideon dies at the end. That sucks but I can't help thinking that, just like Zac did, he'll have revival and get a power. After all his body disappeared. Anyway, I hope that's what will happen and that Gideon will be the hero of the next book.

All in all, I can't wait for the next one. ( )

Cherry Adair has been hit and miss for me - this is a definite hit!

Zak and Acadia are the poster couple for opposites attract. He is a sexy and anti-social adrenalin junkie and she is the ultimate girl next door whose spunky resourcefulness never fails to amaze. Their snarky sparring and intense chemistry are very entertaining.

The plot is well developed from the action-adventure of the kidnapping and trekking through the jungle of Venezuela to the cloak and dagger suspense of dodging assassins in the big city. The baddies appear to be your run-of-the-mill cookie-cutter villains at first but things are not as they seem and the ultimate explanation provides a good twist at the end.

My one small nitpick is with the paranormal element, which is out of place and unnecessary. The information provided by this aspect of the plot could have been provided in a more realistic way without forcing the reader to suspend their disbelief.

An exciting and fast-paced read and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. ( )

I am soo glad Cherry Adair is back with a new series. This one started off with a bang and just kept going. Cherry knows how to do action and suspense ( )

Hush is the first book in Cherry Adair's Lodestone series. I can't say enough good things about this book. It has all the action, sexy romance and suspense you could want, it keeps your heart pumping waiting to see what's going to happen next and is hard to put down. Zak and Acadia are great characters who know what they want and how to get it and after literally dying Zak has a new super ability. You won't be disappointed in this book, only anxious to read what comes next… ( )
