This century-old library is the first French-language public library built in Canada and the oldest branch still operating in Montréal. Major renovations to the building took place in 2004. Certain architectural elements of the era, such as the engraving on the facades, recall the rich history of this institution.

Formerly called the Bibliothèque Georges-Vanier, it was renamed the Bibliothèque Réjean-Ducharme in 2021.
