In this thread we will be discussing the administration - the rules of the organization concerning the development of the Open Shelf Classification system.

PRINCIPAL RULE
If you believe you have a good idea as to how a classification system should be rendered - DO IT yourself as far as you can possibly go with it, because chances are other people are not going to put much effort into helping you on this because they do not understand the system as you do (think of the cross-referencing as being the situation for misunderstandings). While you are working on your system hopefully others will be working on theirs.
Corollary rule
Do not expect your critique and analysis of other peoples work to carry much weight if you have not a rendering of your own volition. You want to be considered qualified to make decisions concerning classification - ante up. Put your renditions out there for critique.

PRINCIPLE RULE
Don't you mean "Principal rule"? I hate to come off as such a pedant, but if you can't spell the word you mean, it undercuts any argument you make (no matter how well it's been thought through).

Yes, Thank you. I make mistakes quite often, and am sometimes stubborn to correcting them.
I have been thinking about membership - critical mass. How are we to recruit the critical mass of people to participate in the project. The best recruiting tool is probably going to be the presentation of a product. I mean, who other than librarians, are going to understand what we mean when we call for volunteers to help build an open source classification system?
So with that, do we have a mission statement?

As directed I have commenced a group to relieve this group of any burdens of its past.
