Ok here is one of mine --
I love NCIS because "Illya Kuryakin" is on it...and every now and then there is some minor (you have to listen or look carefully) reference to The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

OMG I thought I was the only one who thought about that :)
I have not, however caught the U.N.C.L.E references though..
I must be more diligent.

My favorite one was when someone asked Gibbs what Ducky looked like when he was young, and Gibbs answered "Illya Kuryakin"!!

OMG It is so good to "hear" you talk about this. No 3's comment is the only reference I have heard. It was a real LOL.

Yea! Someone else knows about Illya Kuryakin. I was not only the only who laughed when Gibbs said that but I had to explain who he was. Love Ducky. Sad to hear the lady who played his mother died.

Secret pleasure? Watching Oscar DeLa Hoya box.

My husband, the UNCLE freak, saw a reference this season -- I've forgotten what it was but I'll ask him. He also swears there's been some character last names based on UNCLE.

I tuned in the first time for Marc Harmon, Ducky was the big surprise. With the Gibbs "Illya Kuryakin" quote -- I was a lifer! Love Ducky!!!

In that episode, the camera scanned Ducky's mother's bedroom and one of his UNCLE -press photos was framed. My best friend got one from the fan club -- had Dr. Kildare too! She had a big scrap book filled with David McCallum and Richard Chamberlain pictures cut out from magazines -- but those were the centerpieces ....me -- Ben Casey and Napoleon Solo.

BTW -- McGee...is the colonial boy (that turns into Binx the cat) in Disney's Hocus Pocus, my son pointed that one out.

Please note I can remember things from 40+ plus years ago but have no clue what I had for dinner last night...must be over 50! LOL

I never caught that old buddy of mine even though,thanks to you I am a big fan of that show!

My secret reading pleasure is like karen Marie posted...getting up very early on Saturday and Sundays even when it is still dark and reading with my Mighty Bright night light!

My secret pleasure are the audio versions of the Miss Julia books by Ann B. Ross. They're silly, and they don't make sense, and no one behaves sensibly, and I still love listening to them.

I also had a HUGE crush on Illya Kuryakin, but I don't watch much TV any more, so I've missed his new persona. And pictures and memories of Richard Chamberlain in his heyday still make my knees buckle.

I too have fond memories of Ilya, but I haven't the single smallest clue as to what NCIS might be.

Is this because I don't watch telly? :-)

Sorry Rowntree. NCIS is a television drama about the US Navel Crime Investigative Service -- David McCallum plays Dr. Mallard aka "Ducky", the pathologist on the show.

I saw an interview Richard Chamberlain did, where he said his agent sent him on a go see to a director who was looking for someone good looking, a "Richard Chamberlain" type. Afterwards he was told they weren't looking for someone "THAT" good looking.

Husband's 50-ish guilty pleasure -- DVR's every Johnny Quest episode and watches them Saturday morning before I get up!

#13 -- He still looks great! He and Ducky are my mother's age in their 70s.

Aside from food, glorious food, I think my secret pleasure is a dizzying selection of too much TV. I love everything from Top Gear to Top Chef, from Primeval to Torchwood, from Survivor to the Amazing Race, from NCIS to Lost, from True Blood to Burn Notice. And many more!

An especially guilty pleasure is the over-the-top BBC America sexy melodramas, like Mile High, Footballers' Wives, and Mistresses. So tacky and so fun.

Being alone in the house - which actually never never never happens except maybe an hour here or there. Husband works from home and I have an almost-16-year-old daughter.

I love having the house to myself, too. Usually Dan goes to Canada for a week.. but he has to skip it this year... it makes me sad :P

Angela, I have never had an interest in gambling.. I did go to a casino once with all of my kids. A week in a casino.. do you find time to read??

Kath, it's funny you ask her that about reading. A girlfriend and I take a motorcoach tour to Tunica at least once a year. We have a budget of about $50 each for the whole trip (not big gamblers). But we go because there's nowhere else that you can give someone $125 and they will drive you for 5 hours, put you up in a nice hotel and feed you for 3 days, then take you back home. We take a bag of books, we go to one casino and spend our $10, then find a bench and read till it's time to go to the next casino and do it all over. We say we're going on our annual reading vacation!

I'm with Angela on this one; I like to gamble and it is very pleasant indeed to spend three or four or more days being pampered in a nice casino hotel, grazing through the all-you-can-eat buffets (I always start with the salad bar, no need to imagine the worst!), seeing somewhat tacky shows, walking on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City or along the strip in Vegas, playing slots, and luxuriating in the nearly-always-empty pool and jacuzzi.

With plenty of time to read in one's plush hotel room!

I used to love to go on business trips because of the evenings spent reading. No more business trips. Work's cut back on travel and my job's changed so that I don't really need to travel any more anyway.

My secret pleasure is listening to the funny messages my husband leaves on my voice mail. He uses goofy pet names for me and himself and lets me know he can't wait to see me. He is my second husband, whom I married nearly five years ago, and I still smile to myself when I think about how lucky I am to have found such love at this stage in my life.

My secret pleasure isn't very secret. I like reading in the bathtub with lavender scented salts or bubble bath. No distractions or interruptions. I keep adding hot water as the bath cools off.

My secret pleasure....being alone in the house and putting on my musicals CD's and singing like I am the star! I particularly love to sing Memories from CATS

I like being alone in the house as well... surrounded by my cats and dog.. a good book and maybe tea and cookies or?

My (not so) secret pleasure -- practicing the banjo. My husband gave it to me for my 50th birthday and I am not very good but I love it. I'm calling it my retirement instrument-- I figure that by the time I'm old enough to retire I'll be able to play it!

I've been ill with a head cold for the past few days and I treated myself to one of my secret pleasures - clean sheets. Never are they more delicious than when one has been sick. (Of course, it would have been even more delicious if someone had washed them for me, but alas...)

To wake up at first hint of light on an unscheduled weekend, and realize that it's my choice - to snuggle back with the cats for a bit more sleep, or to get up, make tea, and watch dawn sneaking into the garden, which even at this untidy end of winter has unexpected delights.

My first crocus bloomed yesterday. I've seen earlier ones in sheltered, sunny spots, but this was the first one to bloom in my own shaded little valley.

What an encouraging thought! I'm afraid my crocuses are still some weeks away.

My husband and I are religious NCIS viewers and neither of us knew who Illya Kuryakin was and wondered about it when Gibbs said it! I will have to tell him all about it. My secret pleasure is also having the house to myself. A rare occasion these days as my hubby also works from home at least 4 days a week. I usually turn on music and loud!

I'm soooo jealous. I never get the house to myself. Even when I was home sick there was always someone there. I've tried to get Monsieur to take the kids to a movie or something but it never happens.

KB is out of town one or two nights a week. I love it. I don't do anything fabulous, but it is nice to have the house to yourself.

On the other hand, I live alone and have the house to myself most of the time. So for me, it's nice to have visitors and even, sometimes, a lodger.

It's making a change, even a small one, that adds spice to your life.

I also enjoy myself when I am left alone. Even only if it is for a couple of hours.

I love reading but only can in bed at night and sometimes I stay up until 4 am. Also, watching old classic movies and televsion ghost programs.
