If anyone can help me out here, I'd be most grateful. I am searching for an out-of-print academic title called THE HEBREW FOLKTALE: HISTORY, GENRE, MEANING by Eli Yassif. The book is printed in a softcover version, in Hebrew (which, sadly, I cannot read). And also in a hardback English version by Indiana University Press, 1999. It is out of print now. I have tried: the publisher (Indiana), ABE, Amazon, Alibris, Biblio, Bookfinder, Broder's, and Googling the isbn (0253335833). Nothing. The book seems to be REALLY out of print and out of sight as well. I am so desperate to find a copy. Preferably with its dust jacket, but in any condition. I keep thinking that since the book is not that old (only 10 years), it might still be sitting on the shelves on some independent bookstore specializing in academic titles or Jewish titles. Should anyone spot a copy at their local bookstore, will you kindly give me a holler? Thanks.

Cindy

That one looks great!! I wonder why Indiana has it on their order page if it's not available - you'd think they would take it off. If I spot it, I'll let you know!!

Indiana is making it available as a print on demand title now. I just spoke to them. I contacted them about 3 weeks ago (and it was not on their order page then) and was told it was completely out of print. Then I contacted the author, a professor in Israel, and he told me he would contact them about it, as he didn't know it was out of print. He must have had an effect. I did order a copy, but it will take 6-8 weeks, they said as they have to print it. It also, alas, will not have its dust jacket. I am still glad to have the book, though. (BUT, if anyone still sees the original version with the colorful jacket, I would still love to find it.)
