I prefer to read my seasonal mysteries during the season instead of year-round; wondered if anyone had suggestions for a good holiday cozy mystery--I have Daniel Plainway: or the Holiday Haunting of the Moosepath League set aside; this'll be the first one in the series I've tried.

How about Envious Casca by Georgette Heyer? It's an oldie, but a goodie.
There are also a couple of Christmas mysteries from several years ago that Leslie Meier wrote entitled Mistletoe Murder (Also published as Mail-Order Murder) and Christmas Cookie Murder.
These are the ones that spring to mind right off the bat.

MC Beaton has a couple: Kissing Christmas Goodbye with Agatha Raisin (funny), and A Highland Christmas with Hamish. I know I read it but I don't remember it. Agatha Christie must have some that take place at Christmas, but I can't think of which ones. Also, I think there must be a collection of mystery short stories with a holiday theme. Maybe I'll go google that.

Advent of Dying by Carol Ann O'Marie is one I remember enjoying this time of year ... one of a series of Sister Mary Helen (I think that's the name) mysteries set in San Francisco and thereabouts. Enjoyed the ones I've read; not sure if they're now out of print.
(Never fails...I always discover "new" authors just at the time they're getting hard to find!)

Visions of Sugar Plums if you've read any of the Stephanie Plum series

A Cedar Cove Christmas, Small town Christmas, A Seduction at Christmas, Christmas Letters, are a few more.

Belatedly, I would add Hercule Poirot's Christmas, The Shortest Day: Murder at the Revels, Jerusalem Inn, Advent of Dying, The Christmas Night Murder, A Stillness in Bethlehem, Death at Sandringham House, A Holly Jolly Murder, and Deck the Halls With Murder. This list should set you up nicely for next holiday season.

I will also add a new one I read over the holidays called, appropriately, Christmas is Murder by C.S. Challinor. It's a new book, but has a very old-fashioned feel to it. Enjoyable.

I have already posted this on another thread but I would like to recommend Agatha Christie's Poirot mystery, The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding. It is my favorite among all of the Christmas mysteries that I've read.

I would add Kate Kingsbury to the list. She wrote some fun cozy mysteries about the Pennyfoot Hotel. There are some ones that take place at christmas time, likeSlay Bells and some other ones. Happy Reading!

I would add Jane Rubino's 'Fruitcake' to the list - the 2nd in her Cat Austen series.
I came up with this link of a list of Christmas-themed mysteries

Haven't started it yet, but I stumbled on a 25-cent thrift store clearance copy of The Late Clara Beame by Taylor Caldwell. I never associated this with mysteries, but it appears to be a Christmas-season house party mystery. We shall see.

Donna Andrews has a long list of cozies featuring puns on bird names in the titles. At least a half dozen of them are Christmas books. I recently enjoyed The Gift of the Magpie.
