As there is no doubt that fairy tales have had a major influence on my own work, it seems fitting that I should join this group!

Hope to make some new friends here :)

welcome to the group:)
My mum(Kehs on this site and some others) read your book and really enjoyed it so I'll probably read it soon.

What fairy tales are you particularly fond of?

I've loved the adaptations by Gail Carson Levine, particularly Ella Enchanted, and Robin McKinley's work. I'm especially fond of Beauty and the Beast stories and loved McKinley's Beauty.

And of course, I love fractured fairy tales like The Unhandsome Prince by John Moore and The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia Wrede.

Well I know it's probably a bit obvious and a little boring, but Grimm's tales have had the most influence on me.

I've always found the original Grimm's tales to be rather, well, grim. There seems to be an awful lot of nailing people into barrels and dragging them behind horses and other tortures. Maybe it makes me lame, but I much prefer the Disney-fied versions given the choice. :)

If you think thats bad have you ever read the struwwelpeter? Amongst other stories, there is the scissor man who chops off the fingers of children who sucks their thumbs
