I read something similar to this in an old running magazine; this is my best reconstruction:

An Ode To Shoes

oh winged chariots
guide us, glide us
o'er mountains high
and valleys deep
pr us, star us
through miles in style
and preferably cheap

Shoes are a runners best friend, so I figured they deserved their own thread for everyone to tout their favorite brand. Here is my list!

Shoes I've worn and liked, but didn't make the cut:
New Balance, Asics, Nike Shox, and Adidas Microbounce

Now for the favorites:
I had an old pair of Mizuno racing spikes I pulled the spikes from and wore till they fell apart. Soon after I got a pair of Puma Alpine Racers that have been used for every sport and occasion I can get them into. Finally, Vibram Five Fingers have stolen the thunder and become my shoe of choice for everything from wandering around the house to running... though I wouldn't fancy stepping on a nail in them.

Now, what has everyone else fallen in love with?

Nike Elite...not the Elite Classic that they came out with afterward. Fit like a glove to my foot. Light weight and years before stability and motion control came about. : ) I still want to try your Vibram Five Fingers.

Mizuno Waves, which reminds me that I must get another pair, they are getting cheap which must mean they are about to be discontinued... noooooooo!

Once I find a brand I stick with it (sony walkman / discman / MP3 player)

My favorite shoes are Saucony's Omni. I've tried other shoes, but keep returning to the Omnis. I usually switch between Omnis and a couple other Saucony shoes, but I just love Saucony.

Once, Nike shoes give me shin splints. I can't run in anything Nike.

Lyzzy, Saucony does that all the time too. I started liking Omnis when they were called Omni 3. Now they are making 6's. I rather wish they wouldn't.
