I've been receiving a number of requests to review books through my email via I have no idea why. Although I'm not opposed to reviewing books and certainly not opposed to receiving free books, the genres I'm being asked to review aren't ones I typically read so I haven't responded to any of the requests yet.

I just thought it was strange that I suddenly started receiving these review requests since I didn't sign up or anything and wondered if anyone else here on LT might have been receiving the same.

Yes, I too am getting them and I queried Tim about it. He doesn't feel there's a connnection to LT (although he too got some) because ours is so far the only feedback. I suspect maybe others may not have made the association. Also, I'm not a member of this group.

Thanks for the reply. I thought it may have to do with LT because I do a lot of reviewing on here. I do sometimes review on Amazon, but it is so sporadic I don't think that anyone would contact me for that reason. Anyway, it doesn't really bother me, I was just curious.

I was receiving the same emails - I finally canceled the subscription (and I use that word loosely) when I was receiving several a day.

If you look at the bottom of the emails, it has a remove feature. :)

Thanks, amsparky. I never even opened the emails, I just dumped 'em. No curiosity I guess :-)

I was wondering how they got my name too. I did request one book and got a nice reply back from the author. Just got the book in the mail yesterday. Most of the books aren't ones I'm interested in, but occasionally one piques my interest.

I started getting the same too. I don't review elsewhere, so they have to have got my email off of my LT profile or some other way through LT. Like LiteraryFeline said, some books just catch my attention because of something and I request them.

I think I might have been getting these. What do they look like when you get them.

I've just changed ISP's and so have a new email address and haven't had them since but I think they had the authors name and book title as a subject line.

Does that sound like the ones anyone else has had. I was getting about four or five emails a day.

Yhea, I those sound like the ones I've been getting as well.

I requested, and received, my first book from Bostick. It is a YA fantasy novel called The Book of Names by D. Barkley Briggs. I have a few library books out but then I'll read this one.

I requested The Book of Names as well and received a signed copy from the author.

Me too! I didn't realize it was signed until I started reading it. Quite a nice surprise!

hey u guys!! i think reviewing a book is a cheap, cheap price to pay for a free book that is veddy interesting and that costs from $18 to $40 on up retail. remember: this is your choice! bostwick doesn't force their books down your nose, so to speak. i have received some PRECIOUS books. One and only one children's book was delicious and the publisher put a lot of work into it. i endorse these bostwick for doing it's job (promoting the book) and giving us a shot at reviewing it. i consider this a perc of being an LT member. and yes, that's where they get our names from --if you have reviewed anything here.

I've gotten several emails from Bostick. I always figured they got my email through one of my blogs, or a review I wrote. I've gotten some very good books through them, but I've received some absolute stinkers, too. They're pretty good people to work with, seems like, and if I don't want a book I just ignore the email. IIRC you can let them know what genres you're interested in just by emailing them back -- info is at the bottom of every email they send out.
