Hermaphrodite & make time traveler

I read a book sometime between 1980 - 1987. It was about a female hermaphrodite who impregnated herself. It also included a man who could space travel and brought back a red diamond from another planet. (Hope this is enough information.)

I only vaguely remember Imajica by Clive Barker but I think it had similar elements.

The hermaphrodite sounds like "All You Zombies" by Robert Heinlein. Could you be mixing up two books?https://emilkirkegaard.dk/en/wp-content/uploads/Robert-A.-Heinlein-All-You-Zombies.pdf

And I was just about to recommend this as well. I don't know about the red diamond aspect, but the first half of your description sounds quite a bit like All You Zombies.

I also thought of '—All You Zombies—' (properly the quotes and em-dashes are part of the title) for the first part, but a lot of authors took Heinlein's idea and ran with it. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is The Man Who Folded Himself by David Gerrold, but I'm not sure if that has the red diamond thing in it.

On the off chance that the two things >1 RxHdz: mentioned were from short stories in the same collection, the publication history for '—All You Zombies—' is at https://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?528453. I'm 95% sure the red diamond isn't from a Heinlein story, so it would be one of the anthologies that isn't specific to Heinlein.

>4 sueelleker: I could be mixing them up but I’ve never heard of the book you mention. I may have to read it now. But thank you.

if you find out i want to know. it's possible dean koontz was inspired by the book you search for, as it has all of it from hermaphrodite impregnation down to the red diamonds from other world thing. lol now i'm curious.
