I’ve been reading the memoir of newspaperman and screenwriter Ben Hecht called Child of the Century. In it he references that his early mentor Sherman Reilly Duffy wrote a memoir. He was a late 19th and early 20th century reporter in Chicago. This would have been prior to 1920. No one on LT has it. I’ve searched Abe Books, EBay, Powell’s, Bookfinder, and Alibris and can’t find a mention of this book anywhere. Any ideas? I’m not sure of the title. ETA Hecht said Duffy sent him the manuscript. It’s possible it never made it into print.

There are various online book finder sites....some are linked to stores, but some are more generic. Just google "how to find a book". Also, don't forget the Library of Congress. They seem to have everything. Good luck!
p.s. post here again if you find it

>2 LynnB: I’ve tried all those but thanks. Hecht’s papers were deposited at the Newberry Library so it’s possible the manuscript was included.
