Dates in Old Recommendations

Looking at the recommendations module on my Home page (which still shows the legacy recommendations), there seems to be something weird with the dates.

Early last week I had 3 recommendations from March 10 and the rest were older. Since then, I've gotten some new recommendations (as expected). All of the ones visible are now from March 10 (8 in my case - 2 shelves, Medium icons is how my module is configured - although there are at least 9 as they seem to rotate a bit on refresh).

It seems like the system generates new ones but tags them with March 10 instead of the current date.

And now there are 12 dated March 10. The system is adding new recommendations as usual, it just has their date stuck.

Because of that, they also don't show as New on the "Recent recommendations" panel but the bigger problem for me is that because they are from the same date, they show up in random order on the Home module - and the only way to see if there are new ones is if one of them makes it in the top 8...

PS: I know now we have the new recommendations system and it is good for some things. However - lately I am adding books as I read them so that slow trickle based on specific books is actually working well for what I am looking for.

Huh. I'm seeing no date issues on my Classic Recs by date, getting new ones periodically through today... but I do see yours.

To reproduce:
1. log in as AnnieMod
2. go to https://www.librarything.com/profile/AnnieMod/recommendations and view "Recommendations by date" (click at the right)

Bug: AnnieMod reports that new recs are getting added, but they are not tagged as "NEW!" and their date is showing up as from March 10.

Just as a tracker - now I have 13 from March 10. Something is stuck somewhere so there was a new one since >2 AnnieMod: again behaving like the last 10 or so. :)

It seems like either this got itself sorted (or changed a bit anyway) or the used date changed - the next one came with a date of 23 March (still not marked as new though).

This morning, I am seeing 16 from March 10 (up from the 13 I was seeing last week per >4 AnnieMod:) and the single one I reported up at >5 AnnieMod: from March 23.

Apparently it did not get unstuck - something else is going on though.

Up to 17 from March 10 today, 1 from March 23.

Something even weirder is happening.

Now I have 18 from March 10. The original one from March 23 was Even Though I Knew the End which I added to my library yesterday so it was removed from the recommendations as expected. But now I have a NEW one from March 23: The Genesis of Misery which appeared today.

Now I have 20 from March 10 (and the single one from March 23 is still there on top).

And up to 21 from the 10th of March. And still the single one from March 23 ahead of them. No others anywhere (possibly because they keep getting tagged as March 10...

I've reminded the developers about this one a couple of times, thanks for the updates.

>11 kristilabrie: Thanks! Meanwhile I am up to 23 from March 10 and I just acquired one dated April 12 (and tagged as new because the date is ok). The one dated March 23 is also still there. :)

And up to 25 dated March 10 (the top 2 are unchanged - one from yesterday, one from March 23.

I got a new one for yesterday (Apr 18, 2023 when you look at the details but says yesterday on the Home module - so there is something going on with this one as well) and the ones from March 10 are now up to 26.

And up to 27 from March 10. :)

As the top says "2,000 recommendations, by date", I wonder if the missing ones went under the #2,000? That may explain also where the new/old ones are coming from - if you are only show the new ones IF they are in top 2,000? But it does not explain the lack of any new ones - I've never had almost a month with no recommendations...

And I wonder if I am talking only to myself here...

I'm seeing your updates, but I know the developers are pretty tied up with a couple other projects, so if you want to post reminders maybe every 2-4 weeks or so until we can get to this, that might be easier for you. Sorry for the wait.
