Can either "Literature Studies and Criticism" be changed to "Media Studies and Criticism" or the latter be added as its own genre? I need a genre that covers books that are studies and criticism of TV shows, movies, and video games and nothing really fits.

>1 LunaSlashSea: I doubt such fine grained genre is likely to happen (we still don't have psychology, which is much wider, even though a number of people asked for it). To be implemented, developers need to make an algorithm that would automatically assign the genre, it's not just a matter of adding one more that we can tick on and off. You can use tags in the meantime to easily group all of those.
Does Literature Studies and Criticism currently include media study books?

>2 SandraArdnas: But we do have falconry as a separate genre. (How much more fine grained can you get? :D )

>3 Nicole_VanK: Haha, yes I remembered that when I was writing, but think that one was some experiment with algorithm, what it can and can't do.

>4 SandraArdnas: Yes, it was an experiment. I was rather pleased my copy of The Art of Falconry showed up there correctly!

It depends on where the "genre" data comes from. Sometimes it is a specific taxonomy used by either libraries or the publishing world. If it is one of these old terms, changing it to meet some new scope or nuance isn't going to be very likely.
Falconry may have been more relevant 100 years ago than it is today.

With the number of people who have role playing game books on here, there was a request made to create a Games and Gaming genre.
We were told there wasn't enough data to create such a block based on Tim's Algorithm. So I doubt he'd change the title of one, if it is tied to the same reasoning.
