Hitty: Her First Hundred Years - can’t decide to keep the 1949 copy or the 1966 library copy. The ‘66 copy has better paper, but a silly abstract cover. The ‘49 copy is a bit rough and yellowed pages, but I think it’s the one I’ll keep.

I’ve been cleaning the attic bedroom, as daughter is moving in temporarily. It looks great, but I’ve got a few new piles in the bedrooms downstairs.

There. Last carload of books dropped off at my favorite rural library. I have one box of books left to carry back to KY and one box of collectible button publications to take to the next button show I visit. Just missed the spring Ohio show.

There was an excellent reason that box hid! The stuff at the bottom was NOT stuff I wanted to discard! In fact, I am so relieved and thankful, I am going to kiss that carton!

So far nothing in May.

Uh oh. Someone around the block was tossing boxes of old books. I rescued three boxes just so I could sort them and find homes for the darlins. One box is all Mark Twain!!! But the bindings are all falling off!
I already see one or two that I will keep.

There is a set of The New Cabinet Cyclopaedia and Treasury of Knowledge from 1899 in really good shape. Sigh.

Nothing in May. I can’t count the books I rescued and sorted; though I separated into several piles. One to donate, another to recycle, because the bindings are just shot. Another pile to fondle and inspect, and think about…..

I haven’t added anything to the discard pile, but I’ve reduced the pile. One box delivered to North Carolina. Several armfuls distributed to local LFLs.

Instead of doing other essentials, I’ve decided to deep clean the living room. It has also become a minor dumping place for materials in transit. For instance, there is a box of papers that will go to the ridgetop buyers.
