I am doing a reading event based on the 2022 World Cup and I have drawn Argentina.
Lots of you are more informed on the contents of the 1001 list - wondering which books are set in Argentina?
Kiss of the Spider Woman is the obvious one, but would be interested to hear of others.

Money to Burn by Ricardo Piglia and Santa Evita by Tomas Eloy Martinez are both set in Argentina

I don't have any suggestions, but that sounds like a fun reading challenge!

>1 JayneCM: Or his other book on the list: Heartbreak Tango. Or if you're in the mood for 1800s epics, there are Martin Fierro and Facundo.

I am also showing The Witness by Saer and the two Borges on my list for Argentina.

>6 Yells: I enjoyed The Witness, but I don't think it is set in Argentina. It's a voyage from Spain to the New World. At best, where they land might become Argentina.

>7 ELiz_M: Ah, I missed the ‘set in’ part of the original question. I think the author is Argentinian, but yes, you are correct, it’s not set there. Sorry!

Thank you all! I will start with Kiss of the Spider Woman but I think Argentina will be in for a few rounds, maybe even to the end, I will definitely need more than one book!

It is a fun event - so far we have done the Africa Cup and the Euros.
A country is drawn out of the hat for you by the readathon host and that is your team until they lose. When they lose, you then swap to the team that beat them and that becomes your new country.
I am anticipating reading quite a bit from Argentina as they are one of the favourites to win the Cup.
