Brought home one ARC: Bleeding Heart Yard by Elly Griffiths, a contemporary mystery to be published 11/22. I love her Ruth Galloway series. This one is the third with DI Harbinder Kaur in it.

Bought one, a "rediscovered" classic called Lodore by Mary Shelley. Back calls it similar to Austen, a romance rather than a horror novel.

Did a bit of online shopping for gothic reads over the last weeks:
Ann Radcliffe: The mysteries of Udolpho,
Horace Walpole: The castle of Otranto (both new)
and used from ebay - as I wanted special editions or books out of print:
The Monk by Matthew Lewis,
Auflaufend Wasser by Achim Engstler and Astrid Dehe, a novella - a fictional account based on a true event - a young man drowning slowly after having been accidentally dropped off on a sandbank slightly off the coast instead of on the 'proper' island in the 1800s.
As the high tide returned and he realized he was going to drown, he wrote down his feelings and farewell letters to his family in his remaining time, put them in a box he had with him which was found washed ashore years later. The novella is based on those notes.
