Poll: Voting Timeline

Management is trying to determine the best timeline for voting in October/November. Because we did not know how many members we would have for the first edition, the timeline was not specifically stated. With 176 starting members, we expect 100+ proposals. There are four stages to this process:

#1: Round 1 (up or down voting on proposals)

#2: Top ten proposals can be expanded by their proposers (max. 1,000 words); they might solicit feedback and suggestions from other members to help them do so.

#3: Top ten proposals (now potentially expanded) are given comments by the Advisory Board.

#4: Round 2 (ranked choice voting)

Initially, we considered one week for each stage. However, quite a few members have suggested on this discussion board and through direct emails that one week would not be enough time. As always, it's up to the members to decide.

Äänestys: Should each stage of voting last one or two weeks? (Yes = 1 week each; No = 2 weeks each)

Äänet tällä hetkellä: Kyllä 16, Ei 28
As this isn't a change to the rules, but guidance for management, there isn't any quorum requirement. Whatever is ahead at the end of September will be the timeline we use.

For me round 4 can be done in a week - all members will be aware of the works and so that should be relatively easy.
I am in favour of expanding round 1 however. How am I meant to vote?

>2 DMulvee: We have received various feedback regarding different stages needing less or more time. For the sake of keeping things straightforward and minimizing confusion among the members, we'll keep each stage the same length.

Well, I voted in favor of one week, but honestly am fine if it becomes two. I don't want to alienate members who feel more time is needed for consideration. And eight weeks gives the press a bit more time to line up things if it turns out that way. So really, I'm happy either way.

I don't mind allowing those who think they need more time to vote an extra week. I just think Stage #2, long proposals, is where we actually need more time. I'm sure my proposal wont make it that far, but that's a lot of writing and researching to potentially do.
