Hi All! I'm happy to say that the September Early Reviewers batch is live!
The batch this month contains 188 titles, with 3,826 copies.
As a reminder: please be aware that you now have the possibility of winning more than two titles through ER—up to four per month, depending upon your Reviewing Score. See our announcement thread HERE for more details, and check your ER Settings page to make sure you have the correct number of titles selected.
So... which books are you hoping to win this month? https://www.librarything.com/ner

Argh! The one book I'm interested in isn't available in the US. Slim pickings this month. But thank you for all the offerings!

Only rough numbers here (I'm not a math whiz) but out of 188 books only about 23% are print books and out of those print books about 37% were children or tween books. Out of the remaining 7 books, at least 3 or 4 were in the 'self-help' category...... As lilithcat says: Nothing. :-( It used to be that you were often requesting several books each month, hoping to get one of them. Now it's difficult to find a book to request.

>4 mysterymax: Yeah, and you're not counting the car books! There are months when I scroll & scroll, wanting more & more. This month was just a desert.

I actually found four that piqued my interest but I am hoping that I get selected for NFT Your Art, as I do not understand NFTs at all. Also, I would get a kick out of owning a physical book about virtual ownership.
Even though almost all of my new book purchases are ebooks, I only request physical books from ER. I never had any success being able to load ER ebooks on my devices or I would never receive notifications from the providers.

>6 manatree: I've given up on e-books, they make my head ache, they aren't something you can look at on the shelf and remember how much pleasure it gave you, and they disappear sometimes for no reason at all when you are half way through!

>7 mysterymax: I used to be that way, but after 20+ years living as a pack rat in the same apartment, I am trying to downsize my physical possessions. Hence, the ebooks. I like my Kobo reader, and while it doesn’t have the charm of paper, it gets the job done.

>7 mysterymax: I've grown to love ebooks because:
- They don't require ever growing amounts of space in our home
- They are light and don't tire my sore wrists
- I never have to explain to non-readers why I own so many books
- I can take a dozen or more books on vacation and STILL have room for a few clothes.

>7 mysterymax: I'm the same! Plus, I have to stare a computer screens at work for hours - when I have to read books on screen as well, that's too much. Headaches, brrrr...
And you need electricity to recharge your e-reader. Stranded on an island with an e-reader? You'd be lost once the battery power runs out...
Yes, if there are books I'm not sure I will like, I also tend to buy and read them as ebooks first.
Sure, space is always a serious issue when you're a reader. But then, real books in bookshelves are the best room decoration there is! 😊💁♀️

>10 Yuki-Onna: Like you, I'm on the computer either writing or doing research several hours every day, and even the thought of reading a book for enjoyment on the computer is enough to send chills down my spine. I don't have to be stranded on an island...we have power outages here on a regular basis! While space, I suppose, could be an issue favoring ebooks, I find the visual sight of how many books I have left to read both soothing and challenging. I have a bad habit for someone who amasses large quantities of books... I also collect art! So wall space that could go for books is sometimes dedicated to art.
