What did YOU buy today? April 2021

huhtikuu 5, 2021, 5:35 pm

All four books were purchased:

* Code Name Helene by Ariel Lawhon (historical fiction)
* Three Hours in Paris by Cara Black (historical thriller)
* What the Devil Knows by C.S. Harris (historical mystery)
* The Long Walk to Freedom: Runaway Slave Narratives edited by Devon W. Carbado & Donald Weise (history)

And I ordered 2 more. But I'm trying to cut down.

I cruised the DollarTree and found Truffle Boy and Magellan: Over the Edge of the World.

I bought two copies of The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear from online. It’s been out of print, so I was hoping for a copy in good enough condition to give at a baby shower. A cheap copy claimed to be Very Good condition, and it was water damaged and creased and the cover was delaminating. The seller (Discover Books) is trying again. The other, I paid a higher price, as it claimed it was New. I didn’t believe that, but hoped for Like New. Well, the Woods have renewed the copyright in 2020 and re-issued the book! So it really is a New copy!

We got a signed copy of Jenny Lawson's new book Broken (in the best possible way).

Sure we paid full price, but it came with an excellent zoom session with her and Neil Gaiman. :)

Last week I purchased the movie tie-in comic novel for The Mandalorian at the local comic book store and The Many Lives of Pusheen the Cat at my local book store.

* Outcasts of Time by Ian Mortimer (time travel fiction)
* Home Sweet Homicide by Craig Rice (mystery)
* The Transatlantic Book Club by Felicity Hayes-McCoy (contemporary fiction)

* How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease by Michael Greger
* Runaway America: Benjamin Franklin, Slavery, and the American Revolution by David Waldstreicher
* The Mind of the Negro As Reflected in Letters During the Crisis 1800-1860 edited by Carter G. Woodson

Found The Horror of Love and The Girl who Loved Camellias for free at my favorite hunting spot. Though I spent $50 on other things. I think the books are bait.

Circe by Madeline Miller;
My year of rest and relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh.

>9 ReneeMarie::
Thank you so much, ReneeMarie! It's good to know one is not completely forgotten... I'm going through a *very* dark phase in my life and I'm not sure how and whether I'll get out again...
So I haven't been able to focus on reading or books in general...

Wow, your final April craziness is awesome!
