Live opera again! (sort of)

I just bought a ticket for Lyric Opera of Chicago's production of "Twilight: Gods", Götterdämmerung re-imagined and staged in a parking garage. It got excellent notices when it was done in Detroit.

I must say I was practically in tears at the thought of seeing an opera in person, even it will be from the comfort of my car rather than Lyric's new seats!

>1 lilithcat: Wow, that's innovative, all right. I wonder what the garage acoustics will be like, and how much difference the number of cars makes. Also, do the singers have to keep a certain distance apart? Please come back with an after-action report.

And good reviews for the Chicago production:

I'm seeing this on Sunday, and will report back!

Sorry, all, I've been remiss in reporting back.

This was a fascinating experience! You stayed in your car, and moved through the garage in small groups, making several stops. At each, you tuned to an FM station to hear the music.

One thing that makes the content each production of this unique is that a local artist writes and provides narration. In Chicago, it was avery r. young; in Detroit, it was Marsha Music. A favorite bit: Grane was a red Ford Mustang convertible!

Lyric filmed the production, and it will be available to stream free later this summer, so keep an eye out for it.
