Found: YA Mystery/Romance Set in England

I'm pretty sure I read this within the last year, but I could be wrong. I think its based in 1800 Socialite England. The main character tries to find a job at a newspaper? Or she was trying to find help with investigating a family members death? She ends up meeting this guy there and he is annoyed by her but his boss makes him help her. They end up falling in love while he helps her. They go undercover in places "proper ladies of society shouldn't be" and getting help from unsavory people. He may have been involved in a gang of sorts in prior years. At the end of the book she gets forced into an insane asylum by her father(?) for asking questions and having ideas of her own, but escapes. I wish I could remember more. I really loved this book, but for the life of me cannot rememeber the title or character names.

It's been a bit so I'm bumping this. As I reread my poor summarization of it, i feel like i might be mixing two books up, but I have no idea what either of them are so uh... idk

Bumping. Also trying to remember more and give y'all some more info on it. There was a scene where the girl and the guy went to his old gang leaders "den" and the girl talked about how expensive a watch was and im pretty sure she duped the gang leader.

Sounds like These Shallow Graves by Jennifer Donnelly, though that's set in 'Gilded Age' New York rather than England.
