It was hinted at under privacy concerns before, but I haven't seen anything develop. I would like to add to Librarything Local without marking it with my identity (I would just as soon stay signed in because that is my default position).

It appears that only one person has added anything within 25 miles of me, and that has stopped. There are, however, several other venues and events that I would like to add but will not until I can do it without locating myself.

I know that you could probably dig up my general location on the web, but I'd rather not give it away.

Robert

You could add venues at seemingly random locations in addition to the ones in your place. I've added just about every locations in the Province of Quebec, with some 2 hundreds more in Ontario, France and New York state. Even though I started with my home city and the one I was born in, you'd be hard pressed to actually locate me now.

Honestly that's a fairly paranoid concern. No matter what you do, there'll be a cluster of venues around a certain location added by a specific person (In social software, having anonymous stuff really defeats the entire purpose, really).

Alternatively, if you're really that scared, just make a bookless free account for that purpose.

I did what was suggested in #2. I think I added just about every public library in Minnesota except in the northeast section.

3 > you missed about a hundred of them, cause I got the ones you missed... ;)

I also did most of the libraries in Wisconsin and am working on North Dakota now.

>4 readafew: Wow - If I missed about a hundred, then there must be at least 400 libraries in Minnesota. Just the Twin Cities metro was over 200, and I know for sure I entered another 105 in other parts of the state. I should have kept a better count. Thanks for finishing the job! :)

I also fixed about 5 libraries you accidentally left as book stores...

Ya I'm not exactly sure but I know it was at least 100, maybe up to 150. That was just the public libraries, I didn't do any university libraries.

It's not that surprising. Quebec amounted to something like 800 libraries (I'm not sure how many bookstores I added, so it's hard to guess).

You are amazing.

I have a lot of time to work. I've started to amuse myself with Spanish libraries. I'm vaguely disturbed to hit seemingly less misplacements so far.

After reading this thread, I learn that maybe adding 250 libraries is not as difficult as I have been thinking.

I have added a lot of Free Library of Philadelphia branches, so all of them are now on LT. The 11 branches that Mayor Nutter and the FLP management are attempting to close all have photos, but there are still many more FLP libraries without photos.
