Currently road-tripping through a post-post-apocalyptic version of what I assume to be Australia in The Sky Warden and the Sun. I had some issues with the first book in the series, but this is doing better so far.

I've just left the Great Library in the city of Brassbridge after some Sorcery of thorns. This was a very fun read.

joulukuu 9, 2020, 8:57 am

Visiting Liavek with Spells of Binding. The stories in the previous volume of this Shared World series were a little "meh" for me, but this batch are keeping my interest.

joulukuu 9, 2020, 10:19 am

I'm in the fictional town of Widdershins, Massachusetts re-reading Widdershins by Jordan L. Hawk.

joulukuu 9, 2020, 6:10 pm

I’m floating around Elantris.

joulukuu 10, 2020, 7:32 am

I'm in England and the parallel world of Aurora in A peculiar peril.

Added Ten Arrows of Iron by Sam Sykes to my reading rotation.

joulukuu 10, 2020, 8:35 pm

I'm heading to Luthadel for a Mistborn reread.

Added Riot Baby by Tochi Onyebuchi to my rotation.

>11 justjukka: Loved it just as much as the first time :)

Now it's time for A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking.

joulukuu 21, 2020, 12:51 pm

I'm in Lithvas in Spinning Silver.

joulukuu 21, 2020, 4:49 pm

I'm learning all about Geralt of Rivia in The Last Wish.

Just came back from Bordertown in Elsewhere by Will Shetterly. It was good urban fantasy, but not spectacular -- basically De Lint Lite.

joulukuu 22, 2020, 2:58 pm

>16 rshart3: Oh, hard disagree. Elsewhere is one of my favorite books, and I find it much more emotional and memorable than any De Lint. To me, De Lint's characters feel like figures that he moves around a tale to have as many echoes to myths or legends as possible (sort of similar to Guy Gavriel Kay's character writing), but Shetterly's characters really come alive. Are you following it up with Nevernever? They're one story in two volumes.

I'm off to Texas with Mockingbird, another urban fantasy.

Spent some time in a rural England Christmas-time with my first read of The Dark is Rising in 30+ years.

Moving on now to Riverside with "The Fall of The Kings" by Ellen Kushner and Delia Sherman. (Touchstone for the book seems to be having issues.)

joulukuu 22, 2020, 10:41 pm

>18 Niko:, reading Susan Cooper again could be fun. X-nay on the movie version of that, though.

joulukuu 22, 2020, 10:48 pm

>19 Cecrow: Hard agree. That movie version was an abomination.

joulukuu 24, 2020, 5:20 pm

Taking a trip to Madame Geraldine's for Waistcoats & Weaponry.

joulukuu 25, 2020, 1:29 pm

Today I plan on heading back to the islands of Hans Lollik in King of the Rising.

joulukuu 27, 2020, 10:09 am

In Rus with Vasilisa, looking for both The Bear and the Nightingale.

joulukuu 27, 2020, 11:41 am

The man in black fled across the desert, and The Gunslinger followed.

joulukuu 28, 2020, 3:40 pm

Finished Ten Arrows of Iron by Sam Sykes. Liked it just a hair less than the first book, Seven Blades in Black.

joulukuu 28, 2020, 3:47 pm

I'm at the Scholomance in A Deadly Education.
