The Last Movie I Saw

I don't watch TV hardly ever. But I did sit down with the hubbs and watch "Red" with Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren. Very funny!

Usually only ever go to theatre with a friend, so haven't been able to do that since March. I don't think I've been to the theatre in 2020. However, the last movie I saw was Dunkirk.

Dunkirk was the last film I saw in a cinema, a couple of years ago, and the first I'd seen for many years. My goddaughter took me to see it while I was visiting London.

We grew up calling them films, not movies. We'd speak of going to the cinema or the pictures rather than going to see a movie. Funnily enough I had that conversation about film v movies with a young Canadian colleague just yesterday.

"Knives Out" was the last movie I saw in a theater. I don't go to the movies much -- combination of ridiculous ticket prices and being too old for the superhero, explosion-fest, and 20-something hookup movies that seem to be what our local movie house mostly books.

Last movie was on DVD through DVD.com (a Netflix company). Fierce Grace, which was very moving. I may watch it again before sending it back.

"I Care a Lot." Very uneven. I couldn't tell whether a "message movie" about elder abuse (first third) or a black comedy about greed (final two-thirds).

A recent local court case where I live highlighted just how terrifying life can become for victims of the state-appointed custodial racket.

I basically don't watch TV and seldom go to the movies. However, when I do watch, it's usually as a follow up to a book I read. I always read the book first, maybe that's why I often find the movie lacking. I recently started watching the ABC Murder Series on Amazon (Agatha Christie) after reading the book of the same name. I watched episode one, not sure I will watch the rest.

As to a movie theatre, the last one I watched was because my mother (aged 87) wanted to go, so I took her to see Victoria and Abdul, about the real-life relationship of Queen Victoria and her Indian servant. (2017) My favorite thing about the movies is the buttered popcorn, that you almost have to take out a second mortgage to purchase!

My immune system is shot, so I am grateful for streaming services on TV. I haven't been to a movie theater in years.

A lot of TV shows are based on books I have read. I find it interesting to see how the books are used to springboard into a series, for ex The Leftovers or The Handmaid's Tale. Sometimes they make a hash of it, but sometimes it's quite good.

At times when I've had a good internet connection I've downloaded a lot of films from the internet to watch at home at my leisure. The other day I re-watched The Day of the Jackal, an old favourite starring Edward Fox.

I just started watching The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones. As previously stated, I don't watch much TV at all, but my husband is a TV junkie. As as I working in the kitchen I kept hearing the word "Puccini" and thought that wasn't anything my husband would likely watch. I inquired and sat down to watch the rest of the episode. The next episode was Tolstoy....while this is purely Hollywood speculation and involves a bit of romance, I found it to be delightful, though 50% of the time I'm flipping through my tablet to find out the real history of the person in a specific event, it's still better than 99% of the drivel I've seen on TV. There are 24 episodes and 4 full length movies on Netflix.

The last movie that I saw in a theater was 1917.

The last movie that I saw at home was Nomadland, because my husband had read the book by Jessica Bruder and was fascinated by it. The movie was excellent, but, of course, he said not as good as the book.

I hadn't been to a movie theater in a couple of hears, but three weeks ago I went with a friend to see The Green Knight. I'm a bit of a medievalist, so I just had to see how Sir Gawain fared this time around! We were the only ones in the theater through the entire showing, so the masks came off. Lovely experience, quite a good movie, well done.

I don't watch TV, as a general rule. (and I married to a TV junkie!) Sometimes he pulls me in when I'm in the kitchen and I "hear" the TV. This week I watched The Woman in Black from the book by the same name. Gothic setting. The movie was very "meh" till the last 2 minutes--worth the watch!

Went to see the King's Man with my elder son. Movie about the origin of the King's Men. Great movie.
