For September, let's read a book with a person's name in the title.
Sorry for the unimaginative nature of this prompt, but I am thinking that it should give a range of choices.

I think I should get to Lucky Jim in September so I'll put that down as my book for the challenge

I am currently reading Lord Jim by installments and will probably finish in September.

Great prompt! Have several on my TBR shelf and I think I'll be picking Vathek, which also fills a gap in my spreadsheet.

Oooh this is a good one - I have a few on my shelf to choose from:
Clarissa, Ulysses, The life and opinions of Tristram Shandy, Roderick Random and Hadrian the seventh
Quite hefty a number of these!

I have completed my read of Lord Jim by Joseph Conrad. This book reminded me somewhat of his Heart of Darkness, but I thought Heart of Darkness had the bigger impact. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my read of Lord Jim.

Bit of a busy month at work, so hadn't even started one of my books above. However, just found Murphy for £2 in the charity shop. 158 pages, a sunny day, I am going to try and get it read today outside.

I'm just starting A Town Like Alice - hope I make it!

Now reading Vathek which is very weird but entertaining.

This evening I read the short novella, The Life and Death of Harriet Frean by May Sinclair. I can't say I enjoyed this short Victorian morality tale, but it was a very quick read at less than 100 pages and ticks another book off the list.

I eventually got to Lucky Jim. It has some good humour in its skewering of academic pretensions, but Jim is more annoying than endearing and I was left a little disappointed by a novel that appears on all the major “books to read before you die” lists.

I finished reading The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and I was surprised how much I remembered of it from my original reading in the 1970s. Muriel Spark has an understated style but it really hits home. Miss Brodie is a character that stays with you.

I finished A Town Like Alice two days ago but I just realised that I finished another book today with a name in the title, Alice's Adventures In Wonderland. I always forget to look for books that cross over and are in both the childrens and adults 1001 lists. We read Alice aloud every year.
So now I have read two books with names and they are both Alice! Curiouser and curiouser!

I have just started Zorba the Greek for the September challenge.
I already finished Austerlitz and Hawksmoor this month, which both fit the challenge, but I finished them before I saw the challenge.
