True author separation: different authors, different names

While editing the authors of my books I stumbled upon the combination of
Marianne M. Sloet van Oldruitenborgh-Oosterbaan https://www.librarything.com/author/sloetvanoldruitenbor-1
Egbert Sloet van Oldruitenborgh https://www.librarything.com/author/sloetvanoldruitenbor-2

These were original mentioned as one author whereas Marianne M. Sloet van Oldruitenborgh-Oosterbaan was mentioned as Egbert Sloet van Oldruitenborgh which should not be the case.

I can divide the authors but this leads to two Marianne M. Sloet van Oldruitenborgh-Oosterbaans where one is aliased as Egbert Sloet van Oldruitenborgh (or the other way around):
https://www.librarything.com/author/sloetvanoldruitenbor

This at least shows the right names but is still wrong as these are separate persons. How can I undo the aliassing? I can't find any setting for this.

(I'm looking more towards a "short instruction, best practices" kind of reply than a "There, I fixed it for you" kind of reply.)

LT recognizes only a limited number of characters for author names. So this happens frequently with authors with very long names (Hoynck van Papendrecht is another example). It's awkward, but for the duration splitting is the best we can do.

P.S.: Nothing was aliased. As you can see the URL just says "Sloet van Oldruitenbor" and then it is whatever comes next (note: even the gh doesn't fit anymore).

Ok, thank you for the clarification.

This is only very rarely an issue with real people. Group authors can really be a problem.

Yeah, MarthaJeanne is right on that. That's way more frequent.
