Has anyone received the books you've won from the giveaway? I am still waiting for 2 of them from last month. I am new here, how long does it take? I don't want anyone to think i read the books but didn't review it. Can anyone give some info how it works? Thank you so much.

Welcome to LibraryThing. I'm sorry no one responded earlier this year. Did your books arrive?

If you remember when you requested the books, you should be able to find its listing on the Giveaways page (limited below) to see who offered them. Clicking on a member's name would take you to their profile, where you could leave a message, I believe.

Here is the WikiThing entry for Members Giveaways to see more info about how it works.

Buried elsewhere on this site is the following description of the program.

Member Giveaways is an informal way for any author or member to list books to give away.

If you request a book from LTMG, you understand that another member will be given your username, real name and mailing address (or email address, in the case of ebooks.

Winners for LTMG are picked randomly. Winners are selected by LibraryThing, whose decision is final.

Winners are not allowed to use the contact information for members offering giveaways for purposes not directly pertaining to that particular giveaway.

File type for ebooks (PDF, mobi, epub, etc.) should be noted in the giveaway description. If you are going to require an extra registration process or password to log in for winners to retrieve their copies, please also note this in the description of the giveaway.

As with LTER, LTMG winners are encouraged but not required to review the books they receive. Unlike LTER, not reviewing a LTMG book will not count against your chances of getting books in the future—they can only help.

LibraryThing takes no responsibility for books sent or received.

I won How to Live Forever by Eleanor Stewart. This book is actually the worst book I've ever read. Simply put, it is a white supremacy manifesto. The author believes that people of color are evil and Asian people are clones. What really got me though is that she believes that every single person who has died is gay. It was being gay that killed them. She uses the f-slur about 200 times throughout this book. Like I said, worst book I've ever read. I believe that the author needs serious clinical help.

>3 pieceofcake: I see that Eleanor Stewart's book had one previous rating before yours by an "Eleanor" who only has that book in her library, and the rating is 5*.

Possible author alt account for scrutiny:

A quick search online using other databases with more information indicates that there are two self-publishing authors named Eleanor Stewart so I'm going to split them for now.

I received a book called The Great Diamond by Denis Guillermin, a children's adventure story, in the month of April.
