Finished The True Bastards by Jonathan French. Enjoyed the book muchly. Still reading Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay.

Left The raven tower with admiration more than love. Took me a while to get into and I found one of the two storylines less than compelling. The other plot line was well done though.
Not sure where I will go next yet.

I had taken a detour to the Belgariad. I'm back at Throne of Jade now. It's ok. I'm finding the ship voyage quite tedious and it's gone on for over half the book so far.

I've been going through a bit of a slow spell in reading lately due to crazy work hours. Just finally finished Heir of Novron. Took me about 2 months. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but don't feel any strong pull to read the other series for these characters. I assume those books cover a lot of the incidents that are already described fairly thoroughly in the first series, and I'm not usually drawn to that sort of prequel where the bones of the story is already laid out and the author is fleshing it out into a full book.
Next up is a trip through the mirror to Mordant, with Mirror of Her Dreams. I know I read this when it first came out, but have no strong memories of it. Curious to revisit it with fresh eyes.
>3 Narilka: Yeah, my experience with the Temeraire books so far (I'm halfway through them) is that they have some definite pacing issues. When they're good, they're REAAALLY good, but when they hit a slow patch, it's like a ship trapped in the doldrums.

>4 Niko: Very well put. I finished up last night and it was alternately tedious and quite enjoyable, an uneven experience for sure.
Heading back to the world of the Others with Vision in Silver.

Just got out of The Hazel Wood. For me, it didn't live up to all the hype.

I'm starting at Yale in the Ninth House.

>4 Niko:, I've felt interest in revisiting Mordant myself, though on the contrary my memories are very strong.

Finished Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff, the last book in the Nevernight Chronicle. Really enjoyed it. Loved the whole trilogy. There wasn't a bad book in the bunch.
10Kanarthi
Finished Severance, which was disappointing as a piece of genre fiction but had some redeeming aspects as a literary novel.
Now diving into a re-read of The Sherwood Ring for a comforting change of pace. It features ghosts who come to give their descendants advice and tell amusing and dramatic stories of Revolutionary-era America. Elizabeth Marie Pope is such a skilled writer; I wish we had more books from her.

Time to wrap up the Belgariad with Enchanters End Game.

Back in the world of the five gods with Penric and Desdemona, in The Physicians of Vilnoc.
14Sakerfalcon
I'm in Olondria reading The winged histories.
15Kanarthi
In alternate historical Boston with Iron Cast, which so far is a competent YA with a magic system centered around art (and music, and poetry, and acting) and a backdrop of pre-Prohibition crime intrigue.

I'm in a city? country? called Obanac to battle a nebulous Phantom's Curse.
I received it as an ER and it's come through as a pdf. The awkward writing and the tiny font, which I can't adjust on my Kindle, are making it a slow read. I'm going to try reading it on my screen and see if things improve.

I’ve finished The Phantom’s Curse and while I recover I’m wondering where to go next.

ETA: I think I’ll try Haggard (Ireland?) to join Stephanie when she meets Skulduggery Pleasant.
