Finished The Tiger's Daughter. Liked it.

Next into the mix is Witches of Lychford by Paul Cornell.

I have entered the land of the Seven Sands (had to do some online research to figure that out; I don't think the text has mentioned it yet) by starting Spellslinger , a YA-ish fantasy that kicks off a series. So far it's enjoyable and well-done, if a bit lightweight. I like YA if it's well done. In fact, I like picture books if they're well done...

I'm in Oxford with Malcolm and Lyra in La belle sauvage.

I'm in alternate Paris in the French Steampunk mystery Confessions d'un automate mangeur d'opium by Fabrice Colin ("Confessions of an opium-eating automaton"). Not very far in but enjoying it so far.

Finished Witches of Lychford by Paul Cornell. Liked it.

Next up is The Bread We Eat in Dreams by Catherynne M. Valente.

Got my copy of Life and Limb by Jennifer Roberson yesterday so I tore through one of my other rotations books so I could start this one.

last month finished Winter of the Witch the last in the bear and nightingale series. Liked it but it dragged, and not as good as the other two. But it did wrap up all the characters.

Just got Starless Sea, I'll be reading it on my trip this weekend Cant wait!

I've finished my travels aboard La belle sauvage which I really enjoyed. Now I'm in the underground city of Caverna with A face like glass.

I'm somewhere near London toward the beginning of The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers.

I'm in England, and other cold, Nordic locales, as imagined by Scott Oden in A Gathering of Ravens, and the forthcoming Twilight of the Gods, which I received as an eARC elsewhere. I accidentally read them in reverse order, so I can say the latter was excellent, and the former looks to be shaping up to be the same, if one has a hankering for vikings and mythological creatures of the Norse variety; which I do. :)

Just finished Last Song Before Night by Ilana C. Myer, a first novel. It was solid and pretty well done -- nothing terribly original, but competent. Main theme of enchantment via song & poetry. It's presented as a stand-alone, but I notice that two more books are now listed as being part of the "Harp & Ring sequence" (but not on her website, which has a glamorous front-page illustration but is otherwise amazingly uninformative). I'm certainly willing to try the second one if I can find it.

I'm at the moment in Nangog, in a battle between Dragons and humankind.

I'm in a desert between China and England with Temeraire in Black Powder War.

Added The Killing Light by Myke Cole to my reading rotation.

I'm in the mercantile city of Lyneroy, at the beginning of French secondary-world fantasy standalone Métamorphoses by Samantha Bailly. Great so far.

In Thisby training for The Scorpio Races.

I've been on less of a fantasy kick recently, but I'm on the west coast with Fledgling. Really digging it so far; there are nice, understated character moments and no wasted details.

Soon to dig into Spinning Silver for book club, which I'm apprehensive about because I hated Uprooted.

Finished The Killing Light by Myke Cole. Didn't like this last book of the trilogy nearly as much as I liked the first two.

I'm on Swan Island heading out for a mission in Harp of Kings.

Starsight just released. Time to catch back up with Spensa and M-bot :D

>28 Cecrow: I found the main romance incredibly creepy and this discomfort permeated every other aspect of the book for me. But everyone has told me that Spinning Silver is better? I don't know; books which pull on folktales _often_ have uncomfortable or huge age-gap romances, but Uprooted's was way more distasteful to me than most. The writing switched between realistically depicting the main character's emotional turmoil and later in the book ignoring this, depicting the main character growing into her own with few second thoughts and the main dude's misbehavior as misunderstood. It was incredibly jarring and made me view every other character's portrayal suspiciously.

I finished Spinning silver and enjoyed it although I will be interested to see what >32 Kanarthi: thinks. The writing and setting were excellent and although there is no notification when the narrator changes I found it easy to identify who was speaking. I liked Wanda the best, though she is not quite so prominent as Irina or Miryem. I shan't say any more as I don't want to spoil it for Kanarthi.
