Turkey has announced a plan to return 1 million Syrians to Syria. But Erdogan has an ulterior motive: he wants to settle the refugees-- mostly Arabs, not Kurds-- in the 'safe zone' now controlled by Syrian Kurds. The Kurds would then find it much harder (as Kurds would be the minority in the region) to realize their dreams of a Kurdish autonomous state, or independent country, perhaps joined to other Kurdish areas in Iraq or Turkey.
It's a clever but rather diabolical plan to use Syrian refugees as pawns in Turkey's own war on the Kurds.

The Anadolu Agency has stopped updating Turkey’s election returns. And Erdoğan’s party is objecting to results in hundreds of places where it is way behind. These are among the indications that the opposition is doing well—much better perhaps than AA has so far let on.
