Since library-related sites on the Internet are few in number, zapping
info about one of them makes no sense on a site that claims to be
"Library Thing." "Book Thing" would be a more appropriate name.
Wowbrary.com is working to expand the usefulness of public
libraries for its patrons.
Your dictates/rules are senseless and not library or library-patron friendly.

1. "Library" in "LibraryThing" refers to your personal library, so yes, BookThing is a good approximation.
2. MarthaJeanne is not making dictates. She is referring you to the rules set up by the company that runs this site.

anglemark (#8):
I'm sure it's a legitimate service. They're still spammers. I don't buy books by authors that spam, either, even though I have no doubt they're actual books. I guess it is possible that someone entirely unaffiliated would spam on their behalf without their knowledge or consent, but that seems sufficiently unlikely that given it's not something I would have heard of otherwise and won't particularly miss, I'll take the risk.
