I'm curious - what is the category "Richard and Judy"?

This category is for books that Richard and Judy recommend. A husband and wife team they are presenters of a chat show here. In an attempt to develop interest in books they began to gather titles to discuss on their programme. I rarely watch their programme as I am at work but it really gets books into the public consciousness.

For example The House at Riverton is one title as was Relentless.

They even have a club - no I don't belong! Here is the url
https://www.richardandjudybookclub.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StoreCatalogD...

I will try and put in some titles soon !

Thank you for commenting =)

Having joined in the challenge over at 3M's blog I developed a spread sheet for this challenge.

This is my reading map for 2008 - in slightly more simple form and updated! This has been a challenging year at home and my reading has fallen behind for a whole host of reasons. I really would like to complete this challenge even if it means an overlap of books so that 56 books is the grand total.

36 / 64 books. 56% read!

I am a positive, forward looking, 'glass half full' type of person and dived into this challenge with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately and, rather sadly I have had a very challenging year much of which has deflected me from my reading so I have not achieved my goal but I loved the thinking, planning and the reading!

To complete my tally so far.

Using my 8 books that span more than one category (thereby reducing the total to 56 - I have made it to 50 as follows

Women and War 7/8
Book Around The World 6/8
Book Awards 4/8
Richard and Judy 6/8
Catch My Eye 7/8
Spiritual 2/8
Women writers 8/8
Newbery Project 1/8

The spiritual category is a disappointment - I tend to read a daily bit of wisdom and as a christian, my bible but I was looking forward to reading more in this category. On reflection - it is a broad category and personally I see lots of spirituality in many books I read. The Newbery project has taken a low profile this year so I need to pick those up.

At present I am reading Christine SOE Agent and Churchill's Favourite Spy by Madeleine Masson. If I get that finished I should get to 51 and complete my women and war category!

Juliette, congratulations on a splendid reading year. I love your categories, and think Women and War a wonderfully challenging one.

I think I'll borrow Orhan Pamuk's Snow for my Reading Globally category next year.

You have indeed read some wonderful books Julie, and I hope they have helped you through your difficult year. May next year will be a happier one for you.

Thank you so very much Meg and Fleur - much appreciated. I am going to presevere and move into the 999 challenge. It will mean a brand new excel spread sheet with my nine categories ready for populating with delicious books. Like last year I will begin with a few ideas in each category - I really do not like to be dictated to by a list of must reads. I am too much of a free wide ranging spirit with books!
