I wish I had Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas DLE... Actually, it would be nice if EP opted for one particular type - leather, clam shell, DLE w/ slipcase - and issued all major Verne works!

“I wish I had Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas DLE...”
You aren’t missing anything. It is my top example of a bad DLE. The translation omits one-fourth of the original French text, and the type is so choppy that it is hard to read in places.

I still would like to see some consistency. Instead of issuing some titles in leather, some in clam shells and yet others in slipcases, it would be nice to see a well designed matching set akin to Hemingway's 19-vol colorful set.

Since that experience I’ve been afraid to buy any more of Verne’s DLEs. I might make an exception for the most recent one, though, because the other illustrator-signed editions have been spectacular.

However, I must point out that it took me several tries under different lighting types before I could decide it was indeed a dark brown and not black. It is quite possible that some of the confusion stems from this subtle color difference.

Right now I am reading The Mysterious Island in the Famous Edition and am really enjoying it.

I've ordered a couple of copies from each publisher. I believe they are all on Amazon as well if you are more comfortable there.
Here is the Vernian Society page index of books. Clicking on the title takes you to the recommendation of which edition to read. Extremely helpful. Verne

I don't suppose this is the case anymore, is it? I realize it's 4 years later since the original post, but I've been trying to see if I can find a copy of this blue 20K Leagues before I bite the bullet on the other 3 Verne volumes of this set. Can't seem to find it anywhere.
