Muokkaaja: maaliskuu 19, 2018, 8:54 pm

Oooh, Thanks!

Most inviting to me are Sweet Thursday, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Run Silent, Run Deep, It Can't Happen Here, Beyond Thirty, ...

... heck, I like most all of them!

I dont' read westerns too much, but the Readers Choice western selections have been nice. I almost feel like starting.

maaliskuu 19, 2018, 9:26 pm

To my shame, I am not familiar with any of these works!!
Have you read any of the novels on the list? Do you have favorites among them that you feel you would very much like to get in leather (like sdawson)?

maaliskuu 19, 2018, 9:47 pm

>3 booksforreading:
I know some of the titles and authors, but I haven’t read any of them either. For the most part they look like light reading that I wouldn’t care to make a permanent part of my library, but they are relatively inexpensive for leather books. Apparently, they are not illustrated.

maaliskuu 19, 2018, 9:59 pm

Based on author alone, there are 4-6 I'm likely to consider, which is an improvement over most years, when it's only 2-4. Can't wait to get the flyer and check out the details...

It can’t happen here is a prescient novel written in 1935 on the rise of fascism in America supported by conservative evangelical Christians under the guise of making America great again. Yadda Yadda Yadda.

I had it in my EP Sinclair Lewis set, read it last year (3 Stars) and sold it pretty fast since it was in great demand after the election. The 4 Volume set is currently on eBay.

maaliskuu 20, 2018, 12:40 pm

I am not familiar with any of these titles, but am interested in the westerns since I love western novels, movies, and TV shows. I'll also have to do some research online for these titles so I can familiarize myself about the stories before I choose which ones to buy. I don't buy the EP Reader's Choice titles because they are new and I don't own any of them. I only purchase books that I am interested in reading.

maaliskuu 20, 2018, 2:01 pm

Yeah, "It Can't Happen Here" has been quite popular! Although it was originally written about Huey Long (another Long-inspired book is "All the King's Men", which was made into an AMAZING edition by the LEC)! I wonder if the EP edition will have any illustrations? A frontispiece perhaps?

maaliskuu 20, 2018, 4:12 pm

I'm a big fanof LeFanu's In a Glass Darkly . Anyone know if The Evil Guest is comparable?

maaliskuu 20, 2018, 10:14 pm

Anyone have pictures of what these books look like? Especially The Evil Guest - Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu

maaliskuu 20, 2018, 10:28 pm

The flyer shows only 2 books: The Last of the Plainsmen and Sweet Thursday. I'll post the flyer when I get the chance to scan it.

Muokkaaja: maaliskuu 21, 2018, 7:11 am

Here is the flyer for these books:

maaliskuu 21, 2018, 8:11 am

You are a rock star. Thank you! Can anyone purchase these new titles, or is it based on a subscription? Also, when is it available?

Muokkaaja: maaliskuu 21, 2018, 10:13 am

I am on travel this week, I sure hope this is waiting for me when I get home.

Regarding the titles, I have read several of them, and would like to have an EP copy of them. Cannery Row is my favorite Steinbeck book. Believe it or not, it was twenty years after reading it before I knew bout the Sweet Thursday sequal. While I can appreciate the writings of Sinclair Lewis, I don't think his works have aged as well. It can be hard for today's generation to relate to his writing. Still, I like him, as I can appeciate his works for the times they were written. I have Easton Press edition of Babbit (read) and a Franklin edition Arrosmith (not yet read), and Heritage Press edition of Main Street (not yet read), and a trade edition of Kingsblood Royal (read). The latter is an example of a book that needs to be considered in its time and does not hold up well. It deals with racism from a very white perspective. A white man discovers he is something like 1/16th black and the repercussions (in the 1940's) of this. Sinclair Lewis presenting the evils and absurdities of racism of course. But if this were to be written today, the book itself would likely be considered racist I believe. But at the time, it was an attempt to refute racism.

maaliskuu 21, 2018, 11:33 am

>15 sdawson: have not read Babbit, Main Street, and Arrowsmith which I have in my library. Certainly Elmer Gantry (Evangelicals) and It Can’t Happen Here (Fascism) have aged quite well and are as relevant today as they were when he wrote them. Not keepers though.

maaliskuu 21, 2018, 4:46 pm

Any ideas when these titles will appear on the Easton Press website?

maaliskuu 21, 2018, 4:50 pm

>17 Matthew1956: Most of them wont. You'll have to call or email. Only a few that aren't selling well or got over produced will be listed for individual sale, and they will be priced $10 higher.

maaliskuu 21, 2018, 4:53 pm

>13 MisterThreeSpeed:

For those of us that may or may not receive this flyer, can you please also post scans of the paper you're supposed to return to EP with your book selections; or let us know what the offer code is?

>17 Matthew1956:

To receive these books at the discounted rates you have to return the flyer that EP may or may not mail to you. Once we find out what the offer code is, we *should* be able to call customer service and make the order with that code.

Alternatively, these books will eventually be on the website, but they will be $5-10 more expensive and will show up several months from now.

Muokkaaja: maaliskuu 21, 2018, 6:17 pm

>19 mortalalliance:
Sorry but I no longer have the order card (I mailed it out).

maaliskuu 21, 2018, 6:41 pm

>19 mortalalliance: I've never had to reference the card. I just call and tell them I want them and make sure they have the proper price in the computer.

maaliskuu 21, 2018, 7:31 pm

>21 Wootle:
One time they refused to give me the brochure price because I didn’t know the code printed on it. It probably depends on who you talk to. I get lots of mail from EPbut never the Reader’s Choice announcements and usually not the sale notices.

maaliskuu 21, 2018, 7:33 pm

>22 jroger1: Probably should just call back and talk to someone else. Doesn't make any sense not to give you the price if you are buying multiple titles. I've never had the brochure and have never had a problem.

maaliskuu 21, 2018, 9:27 pm

>19 mortalalliance:

I always have trouble ordering from them without an order #; it's just easier if someone from this room posts it so I have something to reference when I call them.

maaliskuu 22, 2018, 11:49 am

Product / Offer Code is 3361/002 . I just emailed my order yesterday and didn't even mention those, though; just mentioned that I had received the mailer, listed the books I would like, and advised that the price is advertised as $60.00 + shipping. They wrote back and confirmed the order.

maaliskuu 22, 2018, 4:05 pm

>25 Arknight:

Thanks; yeah I always forget that the customer service agents that answer emails always seem more competent than the ones on the phone.

maaliskuu 23, 2018, 11:28 am

Here are larger images for easier viewing: RC14

I called and ordered all of them this morning and was told they are not yet available and it will be a while, like months. As expected.

maaliskuu 23, 2018, 11:45 am

wootle So if you order the book today, it won't come in for months???? How does that even make sense? Why offer the flyer if the books aren't even produced yet?

maaliskuu 23, 2018, 12:00 pm

This is common procedure for EP. They are still a mail order business with a website. They have never been in a hurry to do anything. Patience is key when dealing with EP.

Muokkaaja: maaliskuu 23, 2018, 12:11 pm

>28 Matthew1956:
You can buy a trip to the moon now for $750,000,000, with no projected date of service. It’s a niche market like Easton.

maaliskuu 23, 2018, 2:21 pm

>28 Matthew1956:

One is pre-ordering them and is not charged until they are shipped. They will ship when published. I also do this, for instance, with normal trade editions through Amazon on books that will be published in the coming year.

maaliskuu 23, 2018, 4:39 pm

>28 Matthew1956:

I believe they do this early, pre-production, to get an idea of the quantity to produce. I also think this is why they're able to give us a small discount on the book prices. I could be 100% wrong however on both these assumptions.

By the way, I placed an email order yesterday and Joe in customer service took care of me early this morning.

maaliskuu 23, 2018, 8:57 pm

>28 Matthew1956:

This approach has generally been limited to just the Reader's Choice titles. When they announce other books, they're generally available or both ordering and shipping within a month's time. The Reader's Choice titles are a bit more special - limited runs and and usually new, as in never published by EP in any form before. Some will come in earlier than others; I suspect the first ones will start arriving in June. It's not as bad as it sounds.

>30 jroger1:
I'm game for the moon trip.

>32 mortalalliance:
Your print run sizing-to-discount balance idea could very well be true.

maaliskuu 24, 2018, 10:11 am

Nothing easier to make money than to choose a lot of out-of-copyright titles, use thinner paper and cover boards (covers warp more easily on newer titles), use cheaper cover gilt (newer editions rub off more easily), & include no illustrations other than the frontpiece...

Beyond Thirty (The Lost Continent) Edgar Rice Burroughs – copyright expired
The Evil Guest by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu – copyright expired
Flashman by George Mcdonald Fraser – 1969, testing water for a new series… (?)
The Last of the Plainsmen by Zane Grey – copyright expired; to complete Zane Grey westerns (?)
It Can't Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis – copyright expired; perhaps to add to the 4 books series
The King in Yellow by Robeert w Chambers – copyright expired, True Detective influence :D
Run Silent, Run Deep by EdwardL Beach Jr. – 1955, may be a good book about subs, but I love my Das Boot film
Sweet Thursday by John Steinbeck - !!! – will be a nice addition to the 8-volume Steinbeck set
The Untamed by Max Brand – copyright expired
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson – 3rd book by Easton for horror fans

maaliskuu 24, 2018, 11:30 am

>34 EPsonNY:

You seem surprised about this. The going rate for in-copyright books from EP is somewhere in the $100-200 range, and 98% of all books EP ever offers are out of copyright.

What do you mean "3rd book by Easton for horror fans"? They've published lots of horror novels. Do you mean 3rd by Shirley Jackson?

Muokkaaja: maaliskuu 24, 2018, 8:56 pm

>34 EPsonNY:

It's almost as if you can choose which books to buy.

maaliskuu 26, 2018, 3:51 pm

There is only one illustration in each book!?

maaliskuu 26, 2018, 4:29 pm

>37 Matthew1956:

EPsonNY's statement, like many of his other statements, is an over generalization for the books in the Reader's Choice series.

Unfortunately, many of the books will be limited to only a frontspiece but some of them will have multiple illustrations within; see this years The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (but ignore the fact that EP screwed up producing this title).

maaliskuu 26, 2018, 4:35 pm

>38 mortalalliance: no we cannot ignore EP’s mortal sin of screwing up the Baron Munchausen printing.

maaliskuu 26, 2018, 4:47 pm

>39 HugoDumas:

I agree; but that matter is irrelevant with regards to number of illustrations/book in Reader's Choice.

I'm sure there are multiple illustrations in other EP books; I just haven't gotten to reading many of them as of late. In fact I remember now the Zane book from two years ago had about 3-5 illustrations in it.

maaliskuu 27, 2018, 8:49 am

>40 mortalalliance:
Exactly; sometimes they have lots of illustrations; other times they have none.

maaliskuu 27, 2018, 9:23 am

I am reading one of last years Reader's Choice, The Manchurian Candidate, and it has the single frontispiece illustration. Many of these are the same. I am fine with this.

maaliskuu 28, 2018, 10:13 am

I am glad they are offering The Last Of The Plainsmen to add to my Zane Grey collection and The Untamed to add to my Western Fiction collection.

toukokuu 6, 2018, 12:49 am

Has anybody received any of these books yet? Would love to see pictures if possible!!

toukokuu 6, 2018, 12:54 am

kesäkuu 7, 2018, 2:48 pm

Still no ship date on these per customer service.

kesäkuu 7, 2018, 3:04 pm

I just put my order in yesterday and Johnni told me that they would start shipping out in two months, so I assume sometime in August we will start seeing them arrive.

kesäkuu 8, 2018, 10:33 am

Per Customer Service, the two Reader's Choice titles I ordered are not in yet. They suggested I would probably see one of them in July.

heinäkuu 23, 2018, 11:47 am

Anyone heard anything on the 2018 Reader's Choice titles? Anyone receive one yet?

heinäkuu 23, 2018, 4:37 pm

I haven't received anything yet, although I did receive one of my Military History Selections on Saturday.

heinäkuu 23, 2018, 6:04 pm

I’d sure like to see if the Zane Grey matches my others before I buy it

heinäkuu 25, 2018, 11:42 am

I received a letter last week by mail from EP stating that the Reader's Choice titles won't start shipping until August.

elokuu 2, 2018, 7:08 am

My account is showing that "Run Silent, Run Deep" shipped yesterday. Hopefully some of the other titles will be available soon too.

elokuu 7, 2018, 9:00 am

I did receive "Run Silent, Run Deep" over the weekend, and after checking my order history today it shows that "Flashman" and "We Have Always Lived in the Castle" are shipping on Monday, 8/13. Hopefully the rest will be released soon, looking forward to reading some of these. Really hoping that "Sweet Thursday" matches the 8-Volume Steinbeck set.

elokuu 7, 2018, 9:45 am

Still waiting for 'The Last Of The Plainsmen' and 'The Untamed' to ship.

elokuu 7, 2018, 10:37 am

61 - I’m hoping it will match the Steinbeck set too but I’m not holding my breath... having flashbacks of the different color they used for “Spacious Skies” (ARRGGHH)

elokuu 8, 2018, 3:02 pm

My account shows that 'The Untamed' by Max Brand will ship on Tuesday (08/14/18). Hopefully, 'The Last Of The Plainsmen' by Zane Grey will follow very shortly. Have a nice day.

elokuu 17, 2018, 11:48 am

I received Flashman today. Will post pics later.

elokuu 17, 2018, 12:41 pm

Just received an email from EP that "Sweet Thursday" has shipped. It was shipped by FedEx and they included a tracking number. This is a first for me, but it's nice. I'm pretty sure it will not match the Steinbeck set from a few years back. It would be nice, but not counting on it. I'm just delighted to have a new Steinbeck by EP.

elokuu 17, 2018, 2:23 pm

Please report back when you see what the cover/spine of “Sweet Thursday” looks like. I’m sure it won’t match the 8 volum blue/red set they did in the past, but those of us that have the set are crossing our fingers 🙏

elokuu 17, 2018, 4:05 pm

Fingers crossed!

I just read Sweet Thursday last week and enjoyed it. A nice sequel to Cannery Row.

I haven't seen it yet, but my copy of 'The Last Of The Plainsmen' by Zane Grey arrived today and is waiting for me at home.

elokuu 24, 2018, 3:07 pm

elokuu 24, 2018, 9:33 pm

>83 GOBOGIE: I received my copy of 'The Last Of The Plainsmen' today. The design and color match my copies of 'Desert Gold' and 'The Lone Star Ranger'. The leather though has a different appearance than the other two. It is smoother and has a smaller more uniform type of grain pattern. It is still "Bound in Genuine Leather". However, I am not complaining. I find it a very nice compliment to the other two Zane Grey books.

elokuu 28, 2018, 10:38 pm

I hadn't seen this post. I just started a thread about the painting in the Flashman novel.

I contacted the artist trying to order a print of it and instead he sold me the original painting. I received it today and am very excited about it.

Flashman remains one of my favorite fictional characters.

elokuu 29, 2018, 3:27 am

So cool - Gotta post a picture of the painting for sure!

Received my copy of Last of the Plainsmen by Zane Grey and it was damaged. Looked like it was on the top of a stack of books in a bigger box of many books and someone opened the box with a box cutter as there is an edge driven cut on the cover from left to right about 1/16th of an inch deep.

Need to call them Monday and get a replacement on the way

lokakuu 7, 2018, 11:57 pm

What's the item number for these (e.g., "xxxx-xx" or whatever iteration is used)? I searched by title & author and no match. (Granted, some are sold out by now.)

lokakuu 8, 2018, 2:35 pm

>102 iluvbeckett:

I can’t directly answer your question, but if you’re referring to the 2018 Reader’s Choice Books, it’s highly unlikely that any are sold out right now. Last year, and seemingly this year, they seem to be keeping these off of their website for a period hopefully to allow those of use who “reserved” them to get a first crack at ‘em.

lokakuu 8, 2018, 8:59 pm

lokakuu 10, 2018, 11:42 am

Can you get these on a subscription delivered/billed at the rate of one per month or do you have to take them all at once? Seems like everyone got theirs over a short period of time, but I really like the excitement of getting a new book each month.

lokakuu 10, 2018, 4:42 pm

>105 eastonlionel:

You can set these up as monthly books, however at that "slow" of a rate, you are almost guaranteed to miss out on some of the more desirable titles as they will inevitably go out of stock prior to being sent to you. To avoid this, I set it up such that I receive 2 books per month and generally do not have any issues with availability.

lokakuu 11, 2018, 6:22 pm

To anyone that has received these, what are the item numbers for each title? I think they start with 3361.

lokakuu 11, 2018, 6:40 pm

001 - Run Silent
002 - Flashman
003 - Castle
004 - Beyond Thirty
005 - It Can't Happen Here
006 - Evil Guest
007 - Sweet Thursday
008 - Untamed
009 - Plainsmen
010 - King in Yellow

lokakuu 11, 2018, 7:40 pm

Thank you. Have to keep the records up to date.

Muokkaaja: lokakuu 11, 2018, 8:11 pm

When they list these titles for $74.95 does that include shipping, or is shipping extra?

Also, does this mean they are no longer taking orders through the Reader's Choice offer of $60+shipping per book?

lokakuu 11, 2018, 8:58 pm

That includes shipping as is usual. You can still subscribe to the series and get the $64.95.

Muokkaaja: lokakuu 12, 2018, 11:22 am

Just placed an order and was told Run Silent, Run Deep is down to 16 copies, so they are sending that first. I was concerned about It Can't Happen Here, and he said they have over 300 copies of that title at this point. I chose five of the ten and asked to get them once per month. Not a fan of the horror/Gothic genre, so avoided those.

I have to say, I'm excited to be getting an EP book each month again.

lokakuu 12, 2018, 12:11 pm

Received Beyond Thirty yesterday.

I received Beyond Thirty yesterday and this title just like Run Silent Run Deep is using the lower grade of leather binding that has no leather grain details like past titles have. This is very dissapointing and l'm considering sending Beyond Thirty back to EP. I also returned Valiant Ambition which is from the Military History Collection because of the newer leather binding finish. If EP continues to use this new leather binding process on all future titles I will not be purchasing any new books from them in the future.

lokakuu 21, 2018, 3:27 pm

I agree. Feels more like a Barnes and Noble leather.

lokakuu 21, 2018, 4:09 pm

I certainly agree that the leather is different somehow, but do we know that it is inferior?

lokakuu 21, 2018, 5:28 pm

>117 Eastoner: That's a good question and I don't know if this new leather finish is inferior to the original EP leather binding finish. It could be the same leather but just a different look now. The odor is very strong and nothing like the leather scent that ks typical of EP.

lokakuu 21, 2018, 5:33 pm

>117 Eastoner: Agree. All I can say is several books from the 100 greatest that I received from EP in the 1990s had the type of leather people are talking about. I could post pictures so you can see it directly, but I believe this is not inferior leather in any way. All of the title I have with this leather still look "like new" to me. However, I do have a few books with the "grained" leather from the 100G that have not aged well, and appear to need something to restore their condition.

In addition, the Hound of the Baskervilles DLE had the same leather (without graining). See my review of this edition with pictures here:

>119 eastonlionel:

You’re right! I hadn’t really thought of it, but I do recall now having picking up an older 20k Leagues Under the Sea with, what I thought at the time, was a very strange grain. Now that I think about it, it is this exact ‘smooth’ grain. Whether it’s technically inferior or not, it certainly feels and looks inferior to the previous grain that we’re used to seeing.

Unfortunately every book I’ve received recently (Including The Children of Hurin) has this “new” grain.

lokakuu 21, 2018, 7:23 pm

>120 mortalalliance:
I also have the 20,000 Leagues DLE and the Hound DLE, as well as others like the Poe DLE and the Christmas Carol DLE. All have the same “smooth” grain. It doesn’t feel inferior to me at all; they simply chose not to emboss it with the fake grain they have used in the past. I hadn’t even thought about it until this thread.

lokakuu 21, 2018, 7:45 pm

Is this finer smooth grain acceptable to everyone here over the traditional classic leather grain that we expect for EP books and am I just over reacting to this change? Now I'm thinking that I shouldn't have returned two of my titles and am just over thinking this!

lokakuu 21, 2018, 7:54 pm

>122 Tolkienfan: All I can say is the different types of leather is nothing new for EP as some may think. As I mentioned, I have books I got directly from EP in the 1990s (started the 100 Greatest in 1989) that have the exact same leather type people are talking about. I personally, don't have any problem with this type of leather vs. the "grained" leather of many EP books, and have never returned an EP book because of a different look to the leather. This is personal choice, but I'd say get used to variations in the leather EP book binders use, because it's been that way for decades. I believe I read somewhere that EP uses several book binders for their offerings, so this can also be a result of different leathers used by different binderies.

Muokkaaja: lokakuu 21, 2018, 8:16 pm

EP has published a few books in recent years that have a smooth “plastic” feel to them that I don’t like. Supposedly, though, it is real leather simply buffed and processed in a different way. Some members here said they liked it.

lokakuu 21, 2018, 8:42 pm

I haven't made up my mind about the issue yet and also haven't returned any books. The thing I don't like most is the accompanying smell although I have noticed that it fades.

lokakuu 21, 2018, 9:10 pm

>123 eastonlionel: Thanks for the clarification concerning the various leather grain styles due to the different binders EP uses. I had no idea that this different leather grain finish existed with EP and assumed they switched to a cheaper lower quality leather binding process to cut cost and continue to sell at the same price point. I own 120 EP books and I have just started receiving titles with the finer smoother leather binding that does not resemble the deep grained leather binding.

lokakuu 22, 2018, 10:09 am

Just wanted to add that I have also received a few books with the new leather style, and although it does feel different then previous EP books, it also does not feel the same as the Barnes & Noble series. I have some of those, as well, and they have a much different plastic feel, that is much smoother than the new EP leather.

lokakuu 22, 2018, 11:33 am

>127 Arknight: I agree with you that the new leather binding finish is not comparable to the B&N leather bound classics because I own some of them and they are smooth without the texture or look of bonded leather.

lokakuu 22, 2018, 11:39 am

Has anyone here received their copy of The Untamed and The Last of The Plainsmen? If you have, were they done in the traditional leatherbound finish or this new leatherbound finish I've described? Just curious to know if all of the Reader's Choice 2018 titles are using the newer type of leather binding or if it is a mixture. So far, the two titles I received have the newer style.

lokakuu 22, 2018, 12:25 pm

Buying un-stamped leather may be an attempt to lower production cost either directly by EP or by the printer/binder... Aside from the smooth, almost unnatural feel, I have also noticed the design is barely stamped into the leather. It feels like it was painted or printed with barely any indentation...

"Most pigskin has been stamped with a grain because natural pigskin has pores and resembles human skin. It is durable, but it’s generally a harder, stiffer leather type."

lokakuu 22, 2018, 12:56 pm

>129 Tolkienfan: I believe each of the latest Reader's Choice titles were of the newer style.

Muokkaaja: lokakuu 22, 2018, 6:33 pm

>131 Eastoner: Thats good to know and I guess I'll have to decide if I want to continue to receive the new EP books that have this change in the leather. I really want the titles I ordered, but I'm a stickler when it comes to details and this is one of those that has me a little bent out of shape. It may sound petty to others, but changes like this will take me a little time to get used to.

lokakuu 22, 2018, 5:18 pm

>132 Tolkienfan:

I don't mind the grain so much as EPsonNY had mentioned the (in my opinion) inferior shallow, design stampings we are now getting to accompany it.

lokakuu 23, 2018, 1:10 pm

I reached out to EP customer service representative Johnni and shared my concern regarding the change to the leather binding on the newer titles. My email was sent to someone else at EP about my concern and this was the response I received which was very helpful and helped me make the decision to keep my titles I was going to send back.

We have not switched binderies. We are now using Cowhide leather. Older books from us may be Pigskin because we use to use that in the past.

Our books are 100% genuine leather.

Our book binding leather is not the same as leather used for clothing or upholstery. Book leather is tanned by a different process so it is very durable.

The decorative finish and color on our books that is applied may make it appear shiny; like plastic, but please be assured that this is only the appearance of the top coat and the base material in genuine leather.

I hope this information is helpful.

Thank you,

Lina, EP Customer Service

>134 Tolkienfan: Great information, thank you for reaching out to them.

lokakuu 23, 2018, 1:39 pm

>134 Tolkienfan:
Their use of cow leather is important enough to place in a new thread. I think most of our members would like to know about this new practice.

lokakuu 23, 2018, 1:44 pm

>136 jroger1: Good idea, I'll start a new thread so everyone will be informed of this helpful information.

lokakuu 31, 2018, 1:17 pm

Sweet Thursday arrived today.

"Printed and bound in the United States of America"

Has the newer-leather smell which has been discussed. Standard EP quality. No complaints here.

I haven't read The king in yellow nor The evil guest......I love horror/gothic/mystery styles....has anyone read these, would you recommend them?

>140 Love2Read.: I read the EP Evil Guest. Not my favourite Le Fanu but still very good read and think the EP edition is nice.
