Work was hell and for several reasons I really deserved to treat myself well today. So I bought 2 books and brought home an ARC.

* Mining for Justice by Kathleen Ernst (part of a mystery series that ties a museum curator with history mysteries)
* Snowdrift and Other Stories by Georgette Heyer (historical fiction; love her)

The ARC is _Island of Sweet Pies and Soldiers_ by Sara Ackerman (pub date 2/18; historical fiction).

Today I went to the luncheon and fundraiser for the Doll Society and museum. The theme was 'from Russia with love.'
I bought a Russian folktale, The Magic Nesting Doll by Jacqueline Ogburn.

3 ARCs:
* The Whispering Room by Dean Koontz (pub 11/17; thriller)
* The Room on Rue Amelie by Kristin Harmel (pub 3/18; historical fiction)
* _By the Book_ by Julia Sonneborn (pub 2/18; supposed to be modern retelling of Austen's Persuasion)

And, thanks to my cat Sweet William, who refuses to use any of the approved surfaces, I had to purchase a library book that was lightly scratched: The Jane Austen Project: A Novel by Kathleen Flynn. He survives because he's lovable, not because he's smart....

Two ARCs, one of which has been out for some time as a published book:

* A School for Unusual Girls by Kathleen Baldwin (2015?; teen historical adventure)
* _Harry's Trees_ by Jon Cohen (pub date 6/18; contemporary fiction, description intrigued and I decided to take it home, then saw the recommendation at the very bottom as a good book for people who liked A Man Called Ove, and I LOVE Fredrik Backman's writing)

Work was hell again today, but I treated myself by buying a 1946 movie on DVD rather than a book.

I have brought home a bunch of ARCs lately, though:

* The Duke Knows Best by Jane Ashford (pub date 12/17; historical romance)
* Third Son's a Charm by Shana Galen (pub date 11/17; historical romance)
* The Ones Who Got Away by Roni Loren (pub date 1/18; contemporary romance)
* The Color of Love by Sharon Sala (pub date 2/18; contemporary romance)

* _The Bookshop of Yesterdays_ by Amy Meyerson (pub date 6/18; contemporary fiction)
* The Square and the Tower: Networks & Power, from the Freemasons to Facebook by Niall Ferguson (pub date 1/18; history)
* When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing by Daniel Pink (pub date 1/18; self improvement)
* _The Cactus_ by Sarah Haywood (pub date 5/18; contemporary fiction)
