I was tootling through the Kindle Store to see what it offers in the way of stuff I read. I was intrigued to find a number of things for less than $9.99. And I was astonished to run across things that are more. Far more. This is the costliest one I've found so far: at $648.00, the e-version is more than 10x the Amazon price for the paperback ($60.60).

Other examples?

I wonder who's making out - -Amazon or the publisher?

No ones making out if no ones buying it. Presumably, the entire cost of transmitting this book to Kindle needs to be recovered on its one and only sale. This is an obscure philosophy book that came out in hardback in 2001 and sells for $122.64 (reduced from $160.00).

drbubbles after I read your post, I wrote to amazon to see if this indeed was the true price, it's since dropped over five hundred dollars! : ) I couldn't believe it and I wanted to know why...they brought it down to hardback price
