Many of us acquire Folio Society books that are duplicates or unwanted.
The idea of this thread is to enable us to swap books between ourselves.
The rules are:-
- no money changes hands
- each party pays the postage for the book to the recipient.
- mention where you are located so the potential swappers have some idea of postage cost
- describe your book as carefully as possible
If you have a book that you wish to swap, list it below, stating what book you want to swap with, or better, a swap for any FS book you do not have.
If you see a swap in which you wish to participate, DO NOT clutter up the thread with details and exchanges of information and addresses, but send a personal message (PM) to the other party.
To send a PM, click on the other persons name at the head of the post (in this posting it would be my name, wcarter), then scroll down to the bottom of their profile page where you will find a text box (labelled “Post to comment wall”) in which you can type your message. You can mark the message as private to the recipient only if you wish.
When you receive a PM, a bright yellow box will appear beside you name on the top right of the Library thing home page. Click on the yellow box to read the message.
Happy swapping!

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, first-time poster here. Back in the fall of 2015, while searching for some nice editions of two of my favorite British children's fantasies (The Midnight Folk and The Box of Delights), I discovered the Folio Society. I was thrilled to see them offered in such wonderful editions, and immediately ordered them. Since then, I've hemmed and hawed with the idea of purchasing more volumes from FS; it wasn't until my $40.00 voucher was due to expire that I ordered three subsequent books during the 1/2 price sale (The Ghost of Thomas Kempe, A Traveler in Time, and The Little White Horse). They just arrived this morning, along with my free mystery book, Barchester Towers (sealed).
I'm very interested in trading Barchester Towers for a different mystery book. I'd be most interested in The Owl Service. After that, I'm not sure, but preferably it would be another standalone children's novel. I'm in the USA (Massachusetts).
By the way, as a novice, I'm not sure how messaging works here. I hope it's an obvious signal/notification when I log in.
Anyway, it's nice to finally join here, and I look forward to a possible trade!
Thanks all,
betaraybill

Everyone who purchased a copy of Patrick Leigh Fermor's "Mani" and "Roumeli" was entered into a competition to win a set of two prints signed by the artist Katyuli Lloyd. I believe five sets were available to be won, but there may have been more.
I was fortunate enough to be one of the winners.
The prints are shown below, and are the covers of the two books, but without the lettering, signed and dated by Katyuli Lloyd. They are printed on heavy card and the total dimensions are 42.5x34 cm. while the coloured area is 34.5x24 cm.

My home has more than enough paintings hanging on its walls, and I have a cupboard full of original paintings that I do not have space to hang, so these prints (delightful as they are) are of no particular interest to me, and if kept, would join others in the cupboard.
I felt it would be a bit crass to sell them on eBay, but I thought that swapping them for a FS book would be appropriate.
I am in Australia, but happy to post world wide, if someone is willing to reciprocate by mailing me a FS book that I want.
Please send me a PM if you are interested.

For trade in the U.S.:
I'd like to acquire a copy of the 2-volume set of 'War and Peace' with the Pevear and Volokhonsky translation published in 2014, with books and slipcase both in fine condition. For trade in return, I have a large number of FS books and other modern fine & private press books to select from. Please send a PM with your collecting interests and specific titles you may wish to acquire in return - I will almost certainly have something of interest for trade.

Hey there,
This one is not a FS book, but I would like to maybe trade it for one. I have received two copies of As Others See Us, a previously unpublished story by O`Heny. The book was made by the Book Club of Texas. It's letterpress printed in more than one color and illustrated by Ben Sargent, a Pulitzer winning cartoonist. The limitation for the book was 500 copies. The cost for non-members is 75 dollars but here in Portugal with shipping it ended up costing me around 90 euros.
Here are some pictures of the book

I live in Austin--Ben Sargent is a well-loved personality here (unfortunately, he retired from being an editorial cartoonist some time ago and the Austin American Statesman has been going downhill ever since). A beautiful book.

This thread has been pretty quiet, but if anyone is interested I have the Liber Bestiarum LE that I want to swap. It is opened but just barely thumbed through. I was tempted during the LE sale and love the book. But I've decided that I want to backtrack on owning Limited Editions. I'm hoping there is someone with a wee stack of Folio editions that they would like to trade for this.
I had a couple great swaps work out here already and am hoping this can move to a new, loving home. I am located in Canada but can do shipping to and from the US.
Send me a private message if you are interested.

I have the Yellow Fairy Book for trade, maybe Red too, plus some others. I just bought two of your titles in this sale (Melville and Pushkin), unfortunately. I'd be interested in the Sayers. PM me if there's any chance you might want to work something out, otherwise I understand if you'd wait for other offers.

I have a sealed Folio Diary 2018 which I have no use for. If anyone’s interested, please let me know. A small trade would be cool, otherwise it’s P&P costs only. I’ll send it anywhere, but let me know where to so I can look up postage costs and hopefully their not inhibitive. I live in The Netherlands, Europe.

If anyone wants these, I am happy to swap them for just about anything.
If no-one is interested in the next couple of weeks, I will toss them.

Keeps occurring to me, whenever I look at my bookshelves, that I have a FS set of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials that someone here would probably treasure much more than I do, but I never do anything about it.
So, finally, I'll offer it up for trade. PM me if you have anything interesting you'd let go for it - whether it's another FS or a different fine/private press. Worst I can do is say no.
Based in London and don't really want to go through the hassle of posting... Hopefully there are enough of you London based folk here!

Anybody interested in a swap for an unopened copy of Eugene Onegin? I'm in Canada and pretty open to options for trade.
85ramon4
I’m interested in making a swap. I’d like to get a copy T. H. White’s The Once and Future King, Folio edition.
I don’t have a Folio edition that I’d like to swap, but I have several Heritage Press editions that I’d be willing to trade away. All are in almost new condition, with slip cases.
The ones I’d be willing to trade away area:
The Pilot by James Fenimore Cooper, published in 1968
Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert, published in 1950
Fathers & Sons by Ivan Turgenev, published in 1968
I’d be willing to trade away any two for The Once and Future King.
I live in the Los Angeles area.

87Petrichory
>78 Lim_See_Min: I would also love the Pullman if still available. I'm at work and can't think off the top of my head what I might have to swap, other than the Myths and Legends of Russia. Is there anything you are particularly interested in?
88hiphopopotamus
>88 hiphopopotamus: Yes still available, mainly because it seems like there's less interest in London than in the books, but let me know what you have and if you're able to meet to swap. From Folio, I'd like anything that (a) I'm interested in; (b) I don't have; and (c) that I think I'd put a similar value on, but my interests are wide enough that those criteria still span a lot of topics and books. Things that jump to mind particularly are the boxset of classic philosophy, or the LE Alice underground. I already have most of the myths series that I am interested in so unfortunately they're probably out. But I'm also interested in any and all fine presses, so if you have any other interesting books I'm all ears.
Cheers!

Hello,
I've been gifted an extra set of Folio's A Game of Thrones, which is unsealed but in mint condition (happy to send pictures). It is, of course, the first printing and comes with the pre-order bookmark and letter of acknowledgement. Book 1 has only been opened once and Book 2 has not been touched; the map has also been unfolded just once. If anyone is interested in trading for it, please PM me your collection that's up for trade and I'm sure we can work something out. :)
I realize the edition is widely available at the moment, but I figured this might be a cheaper or more convenient way for someone to acquire it.
Thanks.

First time poster and young collector from the Midwest here, though I'm not sure if "collector" applies to as small a collection as mine. I like well-made books, and so obviously Folio Society became my favorite publisher, however I'm on a very limited budget. I've fallen in love with Folio's edition of The Book of Psalms, but cannot justify the price of a new copy right now. I was hoping that somebody would have a used copy they would be willing to let go. I don't mind if it's scuffed up or worn. I'm afraid I don't have much to trade, only a copy of Holford-Stevens' Short History of Time. If anyone happens to be up for it, or can suggest some other arrangement, let me know. (if anyone has suggestions for something similar, (a book of the Psalms written in a poetic form) that I could find on the used market, I'd be happy to hear it as well)

Well, the Psalms volume sold out pretty quickly and is no longer available new. It sounds like you're very young and my best advice is to scrape money together for a year and go gung ho on a sale. Or, you should look through the prospectuses on the wiki and map out a collection that you'd like to have and begin purchasing used volumes on Ebay.

I have The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov in very fine/as new condition (pictures available upon request) and would like to trade it for either Lolita or Finnegans Wake. All three copies are scarce and out of print so I think a 1-for-1 deal is fair, but I understand we all may value our collections at different rates so I'm open to bargaining; I am also open to other trades.
I haven't done this before so I'm not sure if someone has to vouch for me, but I have bought a book (the one up for trade, in fact) off of fellow Devotee and have had private conversations at length with other posters and have contributed minimally to this board, so hopefully I'm not a totally unknown quantity.
Please feel free to PM to talk further. Again, I am open to other titles (plus additional bargaining chips from either party, depending on the deal) as well from various publishers - I just happen to be keen on the two I mentioned.

I would consider trading. I'm not so sure Finnegan's Wake is typically sold in the same bracket as the other two, but if you have Ulysses and are attempting to make the pair, then you might save me the burden. I'm hesitant because Finn Wake is a particularly interesting selection, but I also know what my search for Beowulf was like and finding Ulysses at a reasonable price may be too much for me to consider.

After conversing with fellow Devotees, I've come to realize M&M is a standard edition, not a fine one. I am still looking for Lolita and Finnegans Wake in particular, so please PM me if you are willing to make a deal in which my M&M is included as a part of a larger offer from my side (I will list all the FS and fine press I have available to trade upon inquiry). That said, I am still open to all other offers for M&M as well! If this is a book you want, I'm happy to try to get a deal done.
Have a great weekend, all.

Hello all,
I have received 'The Secret Agent' and 'Hangman's Holiday' as my mystery books and I'm wondering whether anyone would be interested in swapping them for one of the other titles? I am interested in anything historical such as 'Homage to Catalonia' or 'Time Traveller's Guide To Elizabethan England', but would also be happy to swap for 'The Folio Book of Science' or 'The House at Pooh Corner'. I live in Finland so perhaps this offer only stands for those people within Europe. PM me if interested.
All the best,
Alex.

In addition to the books posted above >142 SebRinelli:, I’ve decided to let more books go to finance other purchases. All are between fine and as new.
Ulysesses, the recent fine edition
The Shining, signed by Stephen King
Japanese Tales
Chinese Fairy Tales
A Story as Sharp as a Knife
The Deeds of the English Kings
I know market prices for some are crazy and I am willing to let them go for a bit less. Hoping for descent offers ;-)
I am located in Germany and frequently in the Netherlands.

See the first post in this thread. LT rules preclude strictly financial transactions.
>1 wcarter: The idea of this thread is to enable us to swap books between ourselves.
The rules are:-
- no money changes hands
- each party pays the postage for the book to the recipient.
- mention where you are located so the potential swappers have some idea of postage cost
- describe your book as carefully as possible

Edit: Oh, Herodotus too! I want that LE even more than the others, how could I forget! :')

Hello All,
I am thinking of thinning the shelves a bit, and have the following for trade:
Atwood, Margaret - The Handmaid's Tale
Aubrey, John - Brief Lives
Fitzgerald, F. Scott - The Great Gatsby
Giles, Milton - Big Chief Elizabeth
Greene, Graham - Brighton Rock
Joyce, James - Ulysses
O'Connor, Flannery - A Circle in the Fire and Other Stories
Remarque, Erich Maria - All Quiet on the Western Front
Tolkien, JRR - The Lord of the Rings
Fine Press Classics (Genesis, Song of Songs, The Book of Jonah) LE
And others which, after I finish reading, will probably list up.
Principally, I'm looking for works of ancient philosophy, along with Ancient Greek, Asian, or Latin American literature. If you have the latest Herodotus LE, I'm keenly interested--I regret not buying that one when I had the chance. I'm also open to other publishers, especially fine press ones.
I'm based in Japan, so shipping is an issue: regular airmail is still stopped for most countries. I'm a patient guy though and am willing to do a sea mail swap, or conversely, am happy to go private courier for a swap involving Ulysses or the LEs.

Great Short Stories (the collection with sections by countries)
I am looking for:
The Bloody Chamber
Steppenwolf
Kafka's Metamorphosis
Labyrinths
If you have something more expensive, I would consider trading more than one of mine for your more expensive single one. I'm in the U.S.

Figured this might be fun, not sure if anyone will bite. I'm based in Australia.
Have a copy of Ray Bradbury's Martian Chronicles by Folio Society I'm interested in moving on.
Interested in anything really within the wheelhouse of fantasy or science fiction.

Hi GP, I’d be interested (and in Oz), but don’t think I have much that would interest you!
Hmm…
Drowned World
Gogol Collected Stories (it’s fantastical!)
Lives of the Later Caesars (also a little bit fantastical! ;-)

I'm looking for an LE Letterpress copy of Romeo and Juliet if anyone has it. I've got the Sound and Fury SE and/or some others if anyone wants to get rid of their copy...

I'm based in the UK, and I've got a couple of Letterpress Shakespeare's I wouldn't mind trading - Othello and King Lear, both in their clam shell cases with companions still.
I'm looking for these (very much wishful thinking on my part, but no harm in saying):
* Letterpress Tempest
* The Malay Archipelago
* Pliny's Natural History

I'm a longtime reader of the FSD forum, but new to posting, and am downsizing my collection of Folios. I have about two dozen limited editions such as the recent The Lord of the Rings, Poetic Edda, Aurora Australis, Night Thoughts, Hansel and Gretel, The Haunting of Hill House, and about 60 standard editions such as Paradise Lost (2 volume set with Fowler commentary), His Dark Materials, Egypt and the Holy Land. All books are as new.
I'm open to offers, but am looking for the Clarke, Leiber and Wagner Centipede Press books and a few Suntup editions. I strongly prefer in-person exchanges and am located in the southeastern USA. If you're interested, send me a message!

I am interested in deaccessioning the following massive tomes:
Surinam Album LE
Temple of Flora LE
Queen Mary Atlas LE
Night Thoughts LE
Gargantua & Pantagruel LE
Plants of the Americas LE
And also these large (but not gargantuan!) ones:
Nearly every title in the Letterpress Shakespeare LE set, (individually)
Just So Stories LE
The Wind in the Willows LE
Ulysses LE (2022 John Vernon Lord)
And finally, petite in comparison:
The Sound and the Fury LE (two-volumes)
Rob Roy LE
Because of their size, it would be best if you're in the US too. Would prefer fine press trades but am open to browsing.
