What do you think were some of the worst books made into movies adaptions?

I think the harry potter movies were just not nearly as good as the books

True. I really don't like how a lot of the films portray spells. I mean, in the last movie, Stupefy threw people back like 10 feet. It didn't just simply knock you out. My least favorite Harry Potter film portrayel of spells is in the 2nd, when Harry and Malfoy are just throwing each other around. I like the 3rd movie best about spells.

I've never really read or watched the Harry Potter series, but I in general think they almost always ruin the book to make the movie. The Twilight Saga for example... I loved those books. I read each one 3 times, but I think the movies are awful. I felt the same way about Queen of the Damned, although from what I could tell that might have been a decent movie had I not read the book first.

They don't do any better with TV series either. True Blood (altough I do watch it every week) is nothing like the books. Vampire Diaries as well; I personally can't stand that show, but I loved the books and I am very inpatiently awaiting the next ones release. I've nearly lost hope of enjoying any movie after reading the book it was based on.

Except maybe for Interview With a Vampire.

I was never a big Twilight a fan in the first place, but the movie completely ruined any appreciation I had for the book or the author (Which is sad, because she's not that bad). Right now I'm listening to Twilight on audio trying to regain some of my likeness. I'm surprised at how much I actually kind of enjoy listening to it. The movie is nothing like it!
I also agree with melpet. True Blood and Vampire Diaries are nothing like the books they are supposed to be based on. Honestly, it's like a whole new plot and set of characters. I still enjoy watching both, but in reference to the books they are just....bleh.
Sometimes when I finish a book or a series I just set it down in my lap, sigh, and think "I reallllllyyyyy hope they do not make this into a movie or show." Books are ment to be books! You can't portray the genius of plots and character depth through actors and bad movie effects! I find myself more and more disappointed with authors that let their art be ruined by (crappy) producers and directors!

Oh, The Lighting Thief movie was awful! I think they did better with the Harry Potter books though. At least they keep the plot!
