Found Walter Potter's Curious World of Taxidermy by Pat Morris and Joanna Ebenstein. A look into the Victorian taxidermist and his whimsical creations. Also of note is Taxidermy Art by Robert Marbury, a look into the contemporary world of "rogue taxidermy" and Morbid Curiosities by Paul Gambino, a profile of modern collectors of the morbid and creepy, each a creator of their version of the Curiosity Cabinet.

Given the Decadent's penchant for dwelling on death, accruing vast collections of esoteric artifacts, and creating artificial paradises, taxidermy and the curiosity cabinet seem like a worthwhile digression.

Dwelling on death. That is a good phrase. Fundamental. Have we discussed divine taxidermy (that is, the taxidermy of deity) in Jean Ray?

I don't think so. "Taxidermy of deity"? Is that similar to embalmed saints and preserved relics?

Wow, that is wonderful! Only yesterday my daughter was considering taking up taxidermy (she always had a bit of a morbid fascination)
