"For I through the law died to the law"

Is this a specifically personal experience of Paul, or a general experience for everyone that Paul describes using the first person perspective.

Paul was saying: Through Christ I (Paul and we as well) am free from the law, and now the risen Christ lives in me (Paul and us).

How do you interpret "through the law I died to the law"?

Your comment seems to have changed Paul's text from "through the law I died" to "through Christ I am free".

Perhaps he means that Christ's fulfillment of the law (through the lawful means of His Christhood) releases the rest of us from the penalty of the law.

To make things more difficult (at least for me) there is no preposition in the Greek. The English translation preposition is the translator's choice.

I died to the law; I died by the law; I died in the law; I died wrt the law - and others as well might be reasonable translations.

I died to the law so that I might live to God - what does that mean to live "to God"?

The context of the verse might suggest that "through the law" could refer to Paul's life in Judaism, being zealous for the traditions. If that is correct, then the verse might not have general applicability.

And perhaps Paul's dying to the law could mean that Paul found in his zealous pursuit of fulfilling the law, that the law ultimately failed him in his search for salvation. And then that failure left Paul open to live to, with, by, for God.
